I took two weeks off, which for me is about 15 days. Spent the first part of a week bumming around decompressing.
I just finished the second part - visiting family in Athens, Ga. I hadn't seen the family in a good long time and my great nephew just knew me from the cool toys I sent on xmas and b-days.
Two days were spent sitting with the 4.5 yo great nephew. Took him to area parks and generally let him do things that would have caused great anxiety to his mother. His mother was actually afraid he would wear me out and cause all sorts of issues. But we were a great team chasing each other and playing around. It took a couple days for all that to wear him down and he spent a day napping to catch up.
I'm even a little surprised that I could have that much fun with a kid that young.
I also took my niece and the kid to the Georgia Aquarium. I highly recommend going there for some family fun with youngsters that maybe be too small for the Six Flags parks. Just remember to eat before you go as the concession prices are too high and they don't allow outside food to be brought in.
Along with the trip I got a good feel for the new cars highway mpg. At least two legs of the trip I managed to get 36 mpg and the rest were over 31 mpg. The trip up took over 11 hours and and overnight stay in Macon. The trip back was was a quick 9.5 hour sprint. Not bad for around 640 miles each way.
Well, gotta get back to chores and finding some time to play Assassin's Creed...
