No go

I finally heard back from Glimmer Train. Unfortunately, they passed on my story. It was an auto-response email, so they didn't give any reason why. It's a little depressing because I had such high hopes, but at least now I can stop worrying about the damn thing and get back to work. I have nine stories to do some market research on so I can get them submitted, and the book to finish, not to mention the new writing course I'm starting, so even though they passed on me it's still something of a relief.

Life goes on, and so do I.

Larry Niven wrote the first story about the Kzinti while being a senior in high school. It got rejected, he rewrote it, it got rejected, he rewrote it again. He kept submitting the revised story to Amazing Stories time upon time until the editors finally had enough of him and printed the story as is. From then on he wrote Ringworld and Ringworld Engineers, novels that've gotten the highest praise allover the world. If you're saying that you're happy it's over for this story, then surely you were not happy with it too? I tell you one thing, if I were to become a writer, nobody would reject my story unless they've seen at least a thousand reduxes of it. Larry Niven style.

You misunderstand, Cryptic. I'm just happy this particular phase is over... the waiting for this particular submission. I'm very happy with the story itself, and it will get resubmitted. I was just glad to hear something one way or the other. I was holding my breath waiting to hear back, something I know I shouldn't do, but I couldn't help it. Now I can breathe again and go on about my business.

ya... I hear what you are saying being in limbo sucks. Either say "No" and let me get to work, or say "yes" and let me get to work... don't leave me hanging! My aunt has tried to break into romance novels for YEARS, now she is published, but it's on line only, The book is never printed in hard copy. I am sure there are other places like this... maybe give that a shot? If you like, I can ask: maybe they do a wide range of novel types....

I've looked into some of the online only publishers, but that's a last resort for me. There's just something very attractive about the physical entity. (I can physically rub it in the faces of everyone that's beat me down and/or never believed in me.) "Glimmer Train" was the first place I sent this particular story, so I still have many places to try. I just wanted to start at the top and work my way down from there. I'm still very optimistic.
