RRoD part 6

Well it finally happened.  After almost 2 years, the replacement unit I received in October 2006 (which was my 5th unit) finally went bellyup.

To be honest I wasn't really upset...it had been acting up for most of this year so I knew it was coming, and I've been too busy to put much time into it lately anyway.  The part that DID upset me was having to call Microsoft and deal with the halfwit illegal aliens they employ to answer the phones.  When it became clear on my first call that this guy was of no help (asking me questions like "Are you alone?"...WTF DOES THAT MEAN???) I asked to be transferred to a supervisor.  He wanted to know why, I told him because it was quite clear at this point that he wasn't intelligent enough to handle this situation and I no longer trusted the process to go smoothly as long as he was involved.  Well, he hung up on me.

So of course, that pissed me off.  So I call back and fortunately got someone who spoke English.  He explained to me that they don't overnight coffins anymore, the quickest way to get the unit to them would be to go to a UPS store and buy a box from them and use the shipping label they would email me.  So then I explained that being this was my 5th unit to fail, maybe they could make an exception and overnight a coffin to me anyway.  He put me on hold and came back with a supervisor who was very apologetic and had looked up my history, and indeed she told me they would overnight a coffin to me.  Yay.

She also promised they would call me with updates every step of the way, but I'm still waiting for a call back from the Live team I was supposed to receive in February of 06 so I'm not holding my breath there.

Anyway, my 360 is dead.  Hopefully I'll be back up and running by the time Saints Row 2 comes out.
