Good Samaritan Sued

So I am sure many of you have read the article about the good samaritan being sued in California.  If you haven't here is the basic story.

A group of friends from work were going home when they were involved in a car accident.  One of the men pulled a woman from the car becuase he was worried that the car was going to catch fire.  Now the woman is suing the man because she is now a parapalegic.  Apparently there is no California law protecting good samaritans from law suits.  Does anyone else think this is the stupidest thing anyone has ever heard???

I am enraged at the woman that is suing.  How dare she??!?!?  A man, who is a friend, risked his life, to get her out of a car and because she is injured she is suing?  I understand that it isn't the happiest ending for the woman but when there is an accident split second decisions have to be made.  The man honestly thought that car was going to catch fire at any moment.  He wasn't just pulling her out to do so.   He truly thought she was in danger.

Well apparently I am not alone and there is a huge outrage around the country about this.  People should not have to worry about if they are going to be sued.  They should do what is right which is helping others that are in need.  People are always shooting down humanity for being "conceited" and "all about the I" and yet when people think of others and try and help, they are punished.  That is screwed up on so many levels it is hard to even know where to begin.

So now that I have put up my opinion what do you think?  Should a person that is truly trying to help and not being "the hero" just to be the hero be able to be sued?  Or should we protect those people and their families from law suits that could go higher than their yearly wage?

What is your opinion?

It is just as I always have said,"No good deed goes unpunished". My ex didn't like the way that I look at things like doing something good for people but there was to many times that I was proven right. So now the only time I do something good is when I know I can get away with it.

Hmmmm! Tough question. If i wasn't certified in CPR, I would NOT do CPR. But....I would give rescue breathing (through a mask). Why? For the reasons stated above. Same with a defibrillator, for the same reason. People are F'ked up, and you are screwed if you try and fail. If the car was really going to blow--I would have done the same thing. Can they prove her spinal injury was caused AFTER removal?

If he didn't do anything, and she died, he would probably be charged with negligence for not doing anything....ah, modern day legal system. Lovin' it.
