New Years Eve Dos and Don'ts

DO invite plenty of friends to your party. Nothing beats ringing in the New Year with a houseful of friends and/or family.
DON'T invite people who are obsessed with topics that you frankly don't care about on New Years Eve, e.g. the economy, the housing market, Andy Reid's fucked up kids, ect. etc. etc.

DO ensure you have plenty of beer, wine, or other libations. At $13.99 a case, Bud Light was the winner at my house.
DON'T fill half of your house with non-drinkers. Talk about a buzz kill!

DO make sure you have some fun decorations, noise makers, etc. They really do add to the time and make that infamous ball drop that much more memorable.
DON'T distribute said noise makers to the kids 5 hours before said ball drops!

DO make sure you have plenty of good food - from cheese and crackers, to a killer artichoke dip, to various cookies, to a ziti bake that will be awesome during the Rose parade today.
DON'T allow your 13-year old son to eat as many deviled eggs as he wants. It will turn his ass into a biological weapon the next day.

DO make sure that the champagne glasses are clean, that the champagne is chilled.
DON'T forget to make sure that said champagne hasn't gone totally flat in the years it's been sitting in your basement. Trying to scurry for another bottle 25 seconds before ball drop while playing dodge-the-kids isn't the set-up for fun and excitement.

DO make sure that there's a room, basement, or other area that is the "kids area", where they can enjoy the night without pestering you to wits end.
DON'T venture down into that area the next morning expecting anything else but something that resembles a nuclear wasteland.

DO allow all the kids to stay up and see the ball drop. It's a special night for them too, and something they will remember and appreciate years from now.
DON'T expect them to sleep in past 6AM, and be prepared for some hellacious behavior at some point the next day. It won't be pretty.

DO look forward to another great year of gaming with friends from 2old2play.com!
DON'T expect to find quality gaming anywhere else.

Happy 2009 2old2play!
