So I've been messing around with my pod some more and still have barely touched the surface of what this thing is capable of.  I am having trouble saving settings for some reason, I should probably look that up in the manual.  I have found a nice semi-fat bass sound that I like using a combination of amp and cabinet modeling available and think I may stick with it.  It needs a little bit of tweaking, but for an all-around sound I like it so far.  But then again there's dozens of combinations I haven't tried yet, so this is subject to change.  :)

I've been more or less dieting since the first of the year.  I've never been one for New Years resolutions, it just sort of happened that I decided to get serious about dropping some pounds around that time.  Between the health problems I was developing (gout, sleep apnea, etc) and generally feeling like crap I figured it was time to do something.  I had put on a lot of weight since I herniated a disc about a year and a half ago (which never seemed to completely heal btw) and it was affecting me too much.  So at first I just started cutting back on stuff and mish-mashing healthy foods together but it wasn't cutting it.  So then I did the math concerning my budget and decided to do like Jared and eat Subway.  I looked up what is considered the "official" Subway diet and modified it a bit.  See, I'm not going to get by on a 6 inch sub and water.  That won't last 3 days.  So I figured right now my best friend is moderation anyway and opted to go with a bowl of raisin bran in the morning with a couple toaster waffles, fruit for a morning snack, a footlong at lunch, V8 in the afternoon, a footlong for dinner (with some pretzels) and if I get hungry later then I have some V8 in the fridge.  Being that its been ass-cold for the most part, my walking is limited to when I have to go out in the warehouse (500,000 sq ft building) and check on something.  But once it warms up consistently I'll be out there.

One thing I have allowed myself is 1 cheat day per week.  Again, I'm not trying to starve myself or "punish" myself for being overweight, so if I want to hit the Chinese buffet once during the week then I do it.  If I want a burger, I get one.  But I don't go crazy and binge, and I won't get anything that will result in leftovers since I only allow myself to do this once a week.  The Chinese buffet is about to get phased out though.  Its almost $13 for dinner, and anymore I hardly eat anything so its totally not worth it from a cost standpoint.

Oh, and I didn't weigh myself when I started.  I don't really care about what the scale says, you know when you're losing weight.  For example, now that I've been doing this for 6 weeks I have noticed that all my work shirts are getting big on me.  The pants are getting hard to keep up too.  Heh, in fact when I got home last night I was carrying stuff in both hands as I was trying to unlock my apartment door and the pants just came down.  So that was probably quite the visual, fortunately nobody was around.

Another thing helping me melt the pounds away is stress at work.  Apparently after the merger there was a general agreement by the company that acquired us not to get rid of people for 2 years.  3 months into their regime, they announced a 10% reduction of staff at corporate.  So I guess it was 2 years, give or take 21 months heh.  Seems there was a provision in there that negated that promise if business needs dictated so.  Thats a fair clause, I mean if I bought a company I would want an out if things warranted it.

So yesterday I was asked to do a cost analysis for a project that I have had little involvement with and do not fully understand,  I was busy yesterday so I arranged to meet with the project lead this morning to start gathering figures.  We had 2 weeks to do this, so I figured no problem.  Today I come in and find out that shipping was told I would help them do their performance measurement project, which I also found out that I need to prepare one for my department as well.  And oh yeah, the best part?  The deadline is now Thursday for all of this instead of "2 weeks".

So I am going to bed now, because I am getting up really early and going in to work really early so I can finish (I hope) the cost analysis, then help prepare someone else's performance measurement thing (because their lead is useless) and then do one for my own department.  And do my regular job on top of that.

Sigh.  At least its overtime, right?
