Disturbing things in my life

Not much gets to me, I'm a pretty laid back guy, but there is something that's been weighing on me for a couple of weeks, and something that came up last night (no, not that!!) that's really getting me troubled.

First, I was watching "Burn Notice" a couple of weeks ago.  Great show.  Anyway, the guest star was Stacy Haiduk, an actress I've admired for years who has the most intriguing eyes I've seen in a long time.  The rest of her is extremely easy on the eyes as well.  Anyway, she's 40 now and still easy on the eyes.  But there was a scene with her and the female lead on the show, Gabrielle Anwar, in bikinis.  Normally I'd say "GREAT!!" and glue my eyes to the TV, but all I could notice were the bones sticking out, veins showing, and how big their heads looked on their skinny little necks.  Am I getting old that I like more meat on my women?  Not Oprah or Rosy O'Donnell, but Erica Durance from Smallville comes to mind, Pam Anderson, or Vanessa Williams, or Daisy Fuentes.  I really don't need to see the points on your collarbones, or the veins running down your legs, it just looks unhealthy.  Skinny Nicole Ritchie, Kate Bosworth, or (Heresy!!) Angelina Jolie (how does she walk around on those skinny legs?) just look unhealthy to me.  One of my favorite models of all time, Elle McPhearson never got that skinny, but I don't think anybody can think she's fat.  Anyway, I'm sure I'll get some dissenting opinions, and that's fine, but for God's sake, eat a cheeseburger every once in a while!!

The second thing is a much more real problem.  Turned on my 50" Samsung DLP last night and noticed a low pitched hum.  I've had the thing for 2.5 years and never had a problem with it, amazing picture, never had to replace the bulb.  I started surfing the web last night looking for similar symptoms and found a lot of people have had their Samsung DLP repaired 4 times in the first year, replaced their bulb, replaced multiple circuit boards and fans, etc.  What scares me is the price of parts for this thing.  I'm looking at several hundred dollars to repace the color wheel, slightly less for a few of the boards, $120 for the bulb.  Is anybody out there experienced in this sort of thing and can help me figure out what this noise is?  I'm really thinking either a fan or the color wheel.

You like the ladies built for comfort, not built for speed. I call that maturity, not old age.

I agree with you on the women thing. I don't like it when you can see the bones underneath the skin - yucky! I also don't like when they have no hips, I like me a little curve in a woman :) I've had my Samsung DLP for about as long as you... shit might even be the same model, lol. So far it's working great, no humming. *knocks on wood*. If mine starts to go, I might just replace it instead, lol.

That hum is pretty common for DLPs, it's the color wheel. I've decided to live with my Mitsubishi's hum rather than spend the $$$ to fix it. And only $120 for a bulb? Mine goes for $300+.

Now if only women could convince their selves that a little "love" on the hips is a good thing.
