Wine flavors

Any big wine drinkers on the site?  I try and keep up with the everyday drinkers: common man cocktails show, but unfortunately I cant drink most of them.  So here I sit with a glass of wine.  Tonights flavors are concord grape and blackberry. 

I'm going to attempt to go to a local Oklahoma winery and see if I can learn anything winey. I'm interested in what wines people drink.  If you do comment, please give me a specific wine and maybe where you're from.  I wonder if where someone is from can influence their wine choices.

i take it i'm shark boy. i recommend the 2004 j. lohr riverstone arroyo secco chardonnay. the later years don't measure up. my sister got me into australian chards as they don't use oak barrels to age the wine. i'm not an oak fan. reds are great, but most everything i eat calls for white over red wine.

I sometimes enjoy a full bodied red or an extremely dry white. I know a hell of a lot more about beer though.

I like shiraz too, but my wife and I both really like rieslings. Kendall Jackson is good as is Chateau Ste. Michelle.

Shiraz is my favorite. I don't know anything about wines really - I just know that I don't like the dryness of merlot or the tartness of most whites. Shiraz has a a nice fruity middle ground.

One time, at band camp, I drank a bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon. It was a mid-priced wine ($20-30) and had a strong flavor. I was tasting it for days after. I haven't bought that type since - too heavy. Shiraz is always a good bet - I also bought something from Estancia that was a mix of 3 different reds - it was yummy.

Shark boy is BIG into wines. I like reds, Merlot, Shiraz...
