Screen doors

A screen door will stop a 65lb Labrador approaching at a gallop for exactly 1/10th of a second.

Concidentally, 1/10th of a second is the exact amount of time it takes a galloping Lab's ass to catch up to his head if said head were momentarily impeded by a partially immobile object like, say....a screen door.

The look of confusion on his face after the fact was too precious.  I couldn't even be mad at him.

Look at him in a week. That is how long it takes the nerve impulses to reach a labs brain.

My dog constantly hits the screen door. She'll get all excited to go out back and i'll open the glass door and she'll get into a sprint and hit the screen door that i hadn't opened yet haha. In our old house, she went through the screen so we had it replaced with screen made out of kevlar. That held fine until we moved. Here we have normal screen sliding door for the sliding glass doors out to the yard. Although it's normal screen, there's a metal mesh covering the bottom half of the screen so when she tries to bolt outside, the screen flexes into the metal mesh and stops her without destroying the screen. Downside is now the screen door takes the brunt of the force and she just knocks it off the track ..... can't win... just can't win .....

My guy bumps into it occassionally when going outside. This is the first time he hit it coming back in. I would have thought that because the back yard was dark and the inside was light he would have noted it was shut. Nuh-uh. Hit it at a full run and punched a whole right through it. I'm going to chalk it up to my fault. He was barking at something, so I went to the door to tell him to knock it off. I'm guessing he thought I was calling him and rushed to me.
