Shared on Thu, 04/30/2009 - 10:11Well, Texas seems to be getting hit with this pretty hard. 1st confirmed death in the country. Daughter even asked if she could get the Swine Flu from eating pork or a hot dog. I had to re-assure her that no, you can't.
But, the last time we had a global flu pandemic, the death rate peaked at around 60,000 per day. Back in 1918. We aren't anywhere near that.
I tire of the fear mongering that the media continues to spread. 36,000 people die of influenza in the U.S. every year.
Until more than 36,000 people die from this flu, it's nothing but fear-mongering.
