Downloaded the Wolverine demo last night for XB360, played through it. This game plays almost exactly like Star Wars: Force Unleased. The Ninja Gaiden 2 game was my first introduction to the new type of Action/Adventure 3D game. Here's what I found:

1. Build a game around a single, powerful character. Insert appropriate weapons/moves/voiceovers to match franchise.

2. As you play through the game, add degrees of strengths to a pre-determined set of moves by collecting little floating orbs after killing weak, boring enemy armies.

3. Throughout the level, there will be little micro-puzzles to solve. There should be a bright green, blinking arrow pointing you in the right direction.

4. A large boss battle ensues after 30-40 minutes of level play.

5. [Optional] - Quick Time events to frustrate you during the final finishing move of a big boss battle.

Total time to complete - 12-15 hours

Please let me know if you disagree with this formula. After playing through Star Wars: Force Unleased, I'm over this genre completely. The only reason I played this game was to get an original written story out of it. The new Wolverine is 99% based on the newly released movie. Save yourself 15 hours and $60, and go see the movie. You can read what others think at Metacritic.com.

On another note, a TMNT Turtles in Time remake is coming out for XBLA. Anyone down for playing through this? I need 3 other people - I call Donatello because I'm pretty good with a bo staff.

nice write up killthrash, ninja gaiden was fun but got so boring so fast, with the hack and wack over and over.

Thanks Caese, yeah, Ninja Gaiden probably had the best weapons/graphics/bosses - but the genre has had very little innovation in gameplay mechanics.
