Thank you online friends...

You are the best.

I love my online friends and I love my online communities.  And while we haven't met many of those we speak with on a regular basis, you are better than most of those we know in 'real life'.  Since we announced our engagement we have received an outpouring of congrats and offers of services for our wedding....from those we 'barely know'.  From our families  we've gotten, "Don't talk to me about it now" "That's nice" "No need to rush it" and "Hope it works out".  Seriously?  Are you fucking kidding me?  This is supposed to be the happiest moment of our lives and those are the responses we get?  We've been together for three years with barely a hiccup and we want to spend the rest of our lives together, no matter how cliche that sounds, and all we get is that?  People who had expressed that they would help out with the wedding before we were engaged, now basically say to fuck off.  When I try and talk to some of them about it, get ideas for things....fuck just talk about how happy I am about the whole thing, it always reverts back to them and their selfish bullshit within a sentence.  It's just bullshit is all and I'm about sick of it.  And no...it's not all about the engagement/wedding, this shit has been going on for quite a while.  It's all about them and anything outside of their little minds or whatever is of absolutely no concern of theirs.

I love you guys, though.  Thank you for all the warm wishes, ideas, suggestions and of course your generosity....I can't imagine life without my wonderful 'online' friends, you guys are better than you realize.  No matter what bullshit and little arguments we may have, no matter how often the drama lama comes to raise it's ugly head...we are always there for each other and that is so rare to find, in 'real life' or not.

Much love,
Durty

My family accused me of making a bad joke when I told them JollyRodger X and I were engaged....so trust us when we say we all feel we know you two very well, and there is no better match than you two. I'm not sure if I have any services I can offer, but you know if you need an ideas board, this community is here to help.

My Mom told me this several days before she passed away and I think it was one of the most powerful things I've ever heard, granted it's a simple statment since she could hardly speak. She said "Follow your heart, ignore the pettiness of others, and do what you feel is right. All will work out in the end." Congrats on your engagement!

Yeah, families are fun. Mine tried to convince me I should walk away from my children when things were the shit. Don't listen to them, put up with them, and find a large friend to run interference the day of the wedding. :)

Best wishes and really don't worry about what others are saying. My close family told other people that eventually told me when I married my husband we wouldn't even be together a month. Well its been 18 years and married for 16 so I think they ended up being full of shit.

Sometimes you just have to tell family to fuck off. Just because your related doesn't mean they are worth a shit in your life. I gave most of mine the boot. Better off for it.

Some wicked families out there! :( My ex's family didn't care for me, and they were planning a rather final solution to the problem! I musta missed it, so here it is: Congratulations you two! I really hope the best for you and your families! SC
