I have been travelling back and forth to Virginia a lot.  I-85 will be the death of me, for sure.  A few months ago, it was the accident that just about did me in with all the "stuff" I had to do, including appearing in court on a workday in order to get a bogus ticket dismissed.  That whole mess wasn't settled completely for months.  I finally got the final inspection done on my car and am free and clear.  Now, stuff just keeps on coming....

I am job hunting in hopes of moving to Virginia around the 1st of June.  Riiiiiiight.  The job market, even in nursing, is closed up tighter than a drum in that area.  The place I interviewed for last week?  Very nice.  People have been working there for 20-30 years.  The only reason there was a job opening was because it was a new position.  I still haven't heard back from them.  And it is the only bite I have had out of about a million stupid applications and numerous hours searching the web for ANYTHING.  If I get this job, it is an hours drive each way, and we are now looking for a middle ground area, and a new place to live.  More hours and hours on the web searching for just the right place.  We want to be spoiled and live in a community that has everything right there...clubhouse, pool, gym, etc.  And raquetball court!  Hmmm, I will only watch, believe me.  We have found one that is almost perfect in Newport News.  But, dunno.  Still looking.

And, about I-85.  I am, well, old, and have never gotten a ticket.  Well, never got one that wasn't dismissed.  I speed.  Yes, I do.  Well, it's a 3 1/2 hour drive!  I got pulled doing 81 in a 65.  In Virginia that is RECKLESS SPEEDING!!!!  ME!  The most careful driver in the world.  Yes, I drive fast, but I do not tailgate, I do not weave in and out of traffic, I wait until it is VERY safe to pull out on the road.  I let people out at intersections or side roads, whatever.  I slow down to let  people onto the E-way.  ALL I do is speed.  Ya, I know, still against the law.  But, then, we must all be breaking the driving laws cuz I was with traffic, and he just chose me cuz I was over 80 mph, and that is BAD in Virginia.  Now, I have to go to courts AGAIN, on a work day, and plead my case.  I am guilty, of course, but they do not just let you pay the fine.  No.  I have to take a day off of work, drive 150 miles to be in court at 8:30 in the morning.  What else?

Oh, the something else....  We had the meeting with the realtor and the house is up for sale.  I did not expect it to take 2 hours to listen to them tell us how wonderful they are.  Just put the damn house on the market, lady!  Ack..  My gsons and my man were waiting to do lunch when I was done.  That turned out to be close to 3:30 when I finally got done, drove 1/2 hour back to where they all were waiting, and........well, you get the picture.  But, at least this is a positive thing, getting the house up for sale.  Whew.

So, that is more of the continuing saga of my life and where it is going.  Heading in the right direction, but soooooo hard to finally get there.

Drives are the best and worst things in life. Who wants to spend 2+ hours a day driving? ... but who wants to listen to podcast and audio-books 2+ hours a day? (i love talk radio/'cast/books) Job searching is awful. I had many interviews; most ended with: "You are a great 'candidate' but we don't have a spot for you right now." It all ended with TWO job offers, and i was able to bump my salary up an extra 10% while having the same salary on the fallback on in case they did not like my negotiating. Welcome to my neck of the woods Pearly. Virginia state police have recently (last year or so) started an Air, Land and Speed project. This is where they pick certain interstates and enforce the speed limit at ridiculous levels like pulling people doing 70 in a 65. And it ends up being an insane amount of police, like 1 cop every 2 miles (no kidding). I was driving back from Norfolk some months ago and saw 20 police officers from Norfolk to Richmond on 64. Local AM radio usually tell you when and where their little assault is going to be if it's happening that day. As far as moving to Tidewater, there are good spots and bad places to avoid living. Va Beach's housing market is really down. I don't know if you are looking for a job over the bridge tunnel or on the otherside in hampton/Newport News. I would recommend that if you are going to get a place, to get one on the side of bridge you will work. Rush hour times are the suck over there as they have not widened the bridge since I have been alive, but have known that they need to. My State police friends have told me, that if you keep it to 9mph over the speed limit then it would have to be a slow day in order for them to pull you over in traffic. 74 in a 65 is what I normally do.

I believe there is opposition in all things...that means, when good things are happening, and we're moving our selves in a good positive direction...sometimes the path to get there tries our patience. And this said opposition tests how much we want something...and we all know that anything worth having, is worth working/fighting hard for! Take care Pearly!!
