Shared on Thu, 05/27/2010 - 07:34Today is the first day of the rest of my new life. I have been worn ragged with stress + manual labor for the last few days, but this morning I woke up in Williamsburg, VA, next to my man. Backing up a bit..... Sunday Gerry helped me pack up some of the apartment, and he took it back with him. Whew, tired already. Monday, I went to the house and tore into it. Wow, so much stuff. So much being donated to Goodwill! or something. Disabled Veterans will come pick it up. That put a light in stbx's eye. The less he has to do, the better. Tuesday and Wednesday morning, more packing the apartment. Where did I get all this stuff? I lived there less than a year and a half. Wow. I filled box after box. Packing tape is beyond me, but I fought the good fight and actually managed to tape all the boxes shut. Not a pretty site, but mission accomplished.
The movers got there just before noon. Wow, talk about efficiency. They had everything bagged, tagged and on the truck in less than two hours. Then, to the house. This was mostly furniture and larger items, so it was a little slower, but we got it done. They had to take a desk apart, but they managed and it is now on the way here with the rest of my "stuff". I sent my man off to work, so it will be me making decisions about where things go. Nice. But those millions of boxes? I can't bear the thought of unpacking more than 2 or 3 yet today. It will be a challenge just to get the furniture placed and the desk put back together. Good thing, whatever they take apart, they have to put back together. Whew.
The rest of my continuing saga? I have signed the papers for the sale of the house. Now, I am just waiting for closing to collect my half of the proceeds. Since the house was paid for, it's a nice, tidy sum. The separation agreement is drawn up, but still in draft form, so not signed. Blah. We'll cross that bridge when we come to it. My new job? I have a month off. Yay! And we are taking advantage of it. ROAD TRIP!!!! Indiana and Michigan are the main stops. And, of course, a trip back to NC for my gsons graduation. OMFG! My baby graduating from high school! Eek!!!
My "Welcome to Virginia" party is at Maggiano's in Richmond this Saturday. We are having some friends, but all are welcome. PM me if you are around and love Italian food. And, me, of course. w00t! Life is sooooooo good!
