NEVER buy anything Samsung

Ok, I have been dealing with my TV issue now for about a year. Recap, 6 months out of warranty, I started having issue with my $2800 52" Samsung LCT. The issue went away after the tv was on for 5 minutes so it wasn't that big of a deal. Throught the last year, things have gotten worse. Now it takes at least 20 minutes before the issue goes away, last night it took 40 minutes. I called again today and they refuse to stand behind their product saying I am SOL. This is bullshit. I spend a shit ton of money on this tv set for it to only last just over a year.

It's a known issue, at least over at the support forums of Amazon but Samsung has  refused to take any ownership of the problem.  I think when you spend that kind of money and its a manufacturing defect, they should at least pay for parts.  I don't mind paying for labor but they won't pay for squat.  I told them they were loosing a customer for life and the reply was, "have a nice day".    The one repair guy we had out to look at the TV actually used to be a service guy for Samsung and he quit because they wouldn't pay him for his Warranty and blamed it on the "forms" not being filled out properly.  After they owed him over 5k that he shelled out of his own pocket, he promptly removed himself from their service providers.

Well, Samsung has lost me as a customer for LIFE and I encourage you to never buy anything Samsung if you want your shit to last. I am so tired of technology these days not lasting for shit. Remember the good old days when you bought a tv and it lasted 20 year. So long to those days.

1) 2005 or 2006 I had a 61" Samsung DLP, had the tech out to my house 3 within the first 4 months and he still could not fix the issues. Called the store and told them I was returning it...picked me a a 70" Sony. 2) 2008 Pickup up a Samsung fancy crazy expensive dryer...took over 4 hours to dry a load of laundry. It did not have the strength to force air out the dryer tube exiting my house. Returned also. I won't ever trust anything Samsung again either.

Just got off the phone with a TV repair guy, he said the problem is, all these parts are made by the same people and you could easily have problems with any brand. He doesn't work for Samsung but said they have the best picture by far and to just buy the extended warranty. He did agree their customer service sucks.

Hmm, all my Samsung products haven't developed any problems. Although, I bought their 56" plasma, which they are known to be one of the best companies for plasmas. 4 years and counting

Lesson learned, shell out for an extended warranty next time. Don't get it from the dealer, get it from Square Trade.

I had a similar problem with a $5000 Sony TV back some time ago, but had luckily bought the extended warranty. It took them 4 months to get the problem fixed. It turns out to be a class action lawsuit because of the known defect. You might look into this possibility. It recovered a small percentage of money for most owners that filed in to it, and some got TVs replaced depending on purchase date.

5 years ago while shopping for my first LCD I told the salesman Ill take the 32" Samsung, he said "No you wont" He said they sell a lot of them because they look great and are cheap, but around 25% come back for various problems. Walked out with a 32" Olevia, its still on the bedroom wall no problems. Switched to Sony everything 3 years ago, Blu-Ray, Surround-sound, 40" and a 52" LCDs all Bravia, (All my stuff HAS to match, its an Anal thing). The 52" started to go black last month. My Son called a Tech, went through some Q&A and Sony mailed a Firmware update on a Jump Drive that fixed it, NO CHARGE, all good. Sony my friends, Sony

Shit Spidey..you spelled out the issues I had...almost to the T...I had an HLR DLP, They wouldn't SELL me an extended warranty while I was IN warranty...I fought and fought with them because of a known "shadow effect" caused by their light tunnel failing...It turns out they have to settle with anybody that paid to have it serviced...I'm with TKBOSS, look in to any class action that may be out there
