Had a lot happen in the past month. Went to PetSmart for cat food, ended up adopting a dog. I haven't had a dog in maybe 20 years. Cute little guy, some kind of terrier mix. He came with the name Timmy. I figured since this had some gaming connotation, I'd keep it. After all, he is kind of a noob, barks at nothing, and sometimes, is disruptive to my gaming. It's all well and good though. Strangely, he calms right down when I play Darkstar One. Not sure why. Maybe the music is soothing to him. All in all, he's a cool little pup. The cats aren't too fond of him, which bothers me, but I'm sure they'll figure things out in time.
Star Wars Celebration V is coming up! I'm pretty stoked about that. I have to miss Thursday, due to work, but am actually going on Friday without my work laptop. I don't think I've done that in years. I'm not dressing up. I had an idea of a greedo mask, with a "Han Shot First" t-shirt. Problem is, the mask has been discontinued, and aside from some EBay profiteering, none can be found. My second idea was an Admiral Ackbar mask with a prop bear trap stuck on my foot. Problem here was with the fake bear trap. A good prop trap costs about $325. So, I figure I'll just wear a Star Wars shirt and some jeans. This calls into question whether or not I'll dress for Dragon*Con. I don't want to, but have told my girl that I would if she made me a kickin' Big Daddy costume. That's pretty much impossible, so I'm not too fussed about it.
Gaming wise, I picked up Madden 11 yesterday. I usually buy every 2nd or 3rd Madden, and I have 10, but it's still in the shrinkwrap. I liked what I read about 11, so I thought I'd give it a shot. I played it a little bit last night. It's pretty good. While I'm not really a fan of the NFL game, I'm finding it to be a fairly good time.
I got Resonance of Fate in the mail from Gamefly the other day. I tried it, but I just can't get into it. It seemed to throw me into combat without really explaining what was happening. Now, I can fully admit that I hate, hate, hate, hate JRPG's. I used to hate racers, then played PGR2. I used to hate sandbox games, then played the Saboteur. I foolishly keep thinking that some JRPG out there will flip the switch and make sense of this homogenous genre, where every storyline is similar, and checkpoints are often too far apart. If anyone can suggest a JRPG that will turn the genre on it's ear, let me know. I guess I'm not a fan of Japanese games in general. I did pick up Deathsmiles a few weeks ago, and actually find it okay. I also picked up Record of Agarest War around the same time, as I do like SRPG's on my handhelds, but never have the wherewithall to finish them.
Oh well, that's about it for now. First blog post is blogged.
