Since her father past away, I took over duties. As I was mowing this morning, I got to thinking about traditions. One of the announcers on ESPN radio was talking about traditions and how people lived life looking through the rearview mirror. His point was we should live life through the windshield and make our own traditions. I was thinking about the different traditions my family had growing up and the traditions my wife and kids and I have started. One of these traditions for me is always around Labor Day. Labor Day means camping for some people and picnics for others. For me, Labor Day means one thing, dove hunting. I started this tradition with some friends sometime around college or right out of college. The people that I hunt with has changed over the years but one thing stays the same, shooting at some birds. Went with a few friends tonight. The birds weren't flying very good but we managed to shoot 19 total. Nine of those were mine. I am not a great shot but tonight I was the lucky one. Here is a crappy cellphone pic. Wish I could remember to take a camera on these trips.
So what are some of your Labor Day traditions?
