Today is the homeward journey... A full schedule awaits me at home this week with Mom still in rehab, an appointment with Red Lobster 'Endless Shrimp', a Hub lunch, and the Jets on Monday night with Matt64 and Reibo... I can't wait. Meanwhile, we're on the eve of another anniversary, the 25th anniversary of my enlistment in the US Army!
Today's first CoD news is a BASHandSlash link with an embedded YouTube vid showing the character and weapon customization in Call of Duty: Black Ops. Guess the 'best' part of the vid is at the end when the dev (I assume) states that Black Ops will not have an open beta. I sure hope that this decision doesn't come back to bite them in the ass later like it did Infinity Ward.
Today's featured vid is a 'Direct Impact' montage, with MuzzaFuzza holding nothing back as he expresses his contempt for the Last Chance and Second Chance perks. Personally, I've never had much against either one. Since I play mostly hardcore, those perks aren't as effective as they might be in non-hardcore. (Then, again, maybe they are, since there's less chance of surviving a Last Chance retaliation...) To make a MuzzaFuzza double feature, we have a vid explaining why the BS in Modern Warfare 2 has driven him to largely give up on the game. Moving on...
Direct Impact Kills: 'Last Chance and Second Chance are such bullshit.'

- BASHandSlash links a YouTube video showing the Call of Duty: Black Ops menu screens. Impressive shots of the purchasing system on the weapons and character customizations. At the end, there's the disappointing news that there will not be an open beta, only an 'internal' beta limited to Activision... *sigh* In any event, BASHandSlashin also reports more news on Black Ops multiplayer.
- Treyarch combats resales by making Call of Duty: Black Ops too cool to trade in. O RLY?
- ADAN News flogs the Black Ops beta dead horse one more time. Thwack! Thwack! Thwack!
- The Medal of Honor experience is 'cold and gritty'. Includes embedded vid (above) of straight up, unedited gameplay.
- Medal of Honor series to cease if sales don't meet expectations. The magic number appears to be 3 million...
- First look at Dead Space 2 multiplayer: Destructoid.
- Lord of the Rings Online now free to play.
- Id's Rage may be coming to Android phones.
- Steve Gibson promises Duke Nukem Forever is only being polished. Meanwhile, a relevant question: Can Duke Nukem Forever live up to the hype? Maybe, maybe not. Don't know about whatever is incubating over at Gearbox, but this 'over-the-shoulder' YouTube gameplay vid from late last year doesn't look very earth-shaking to me...
- Escapist: Melee weapons make better shooters.
- Michael Jackson video delayed.

- Space shuttle Discovery preparations picture gallery.
- Caught in the act: Fireballs light up Jupiter.
- Celestial event recorded by ancient Greeks may have been Halley's Comet.
- US corporations hit by computer virus.
- Why Google isn't pushing for Android for tablets.
- GoDaddy up for auction. No word on whether the GoDaddy girl is included in the sale.
- The Ten Most Bizarre iPad mods.
- End of an era: GE closes last US incandescent light bulb factory.
- Resident: Evil Afterlife review: Cinematical. Metacritic tracking site Rotten Tomatoes is currently showing a lousy 14% for the current Milla shooting zombies romp.
