Few things

Listening to Knoxville radio this a.m. (as usual), they're talking about how Bruce Pearl is going to take a hit to his pocketbook with the self imposed loss of almost 1 million salary over 5 years (i think). The thing I picked up on was that Pearl carries a pocketbook, apparently Bruce is a closet transvestite, which doesn't surprise me...

Gonna be traveling to Auburn for 1st away game of season. I expect a close game that either team could win. SC will be at full strength w/the leader of defense coming back after being held out 1st 3 games, LB Shaq Wilson. Also, the addition of Spur (hybrid linebacker/safety) Antonio Allen will contribute to defensive depth. SC runs a 4-2-5 defense to account for all the spread offenses now in the SEC. They will need to shut down AU's running game and make tiger QB Cam Newton throw.

I shouldn't say this, but Auburn's a pretty decent place. If the bad guys have their way, don't worry about heading over to Toomer's corner, they roll it for anything these days. Funniest story on that - in 1995, the night the Braves won the world series, Auburn lost to Arkansas. Auburn folk rolled Toomer's. Anyway, I'm giving them a lot of grief, but really, it is a nice place to visit. The fans are generally pleasant before a game, and in most cases, are usually pleasant after. The campus is nice, and the architecture is beautiful. Of course, being a southern school, there are plenty of attractive co-eds (and since they made the conscious decision to attend API, are highly suggestible). I've heard it closely approximates Clemson, so take that for what it's worth. Make sure you get to your seat on time to see the eagle fly. It really is a cool thing to see, regardless of team affiliation. Parking and tailgating can be a pain if you don't know where to go, so do some homework on that. The stadium is decent, but in need of renovations. If you're in the upper deck, it can be an assgrinder getting to your seat as the portals come out the bottom of the upper deck. Another word of caution - Auburn has this (in theory) neat concept of texting security about idiot fans. However, some overly sensitive Aubs use this to fuck with rival fans. Typically, security monitors the situation before blindly going in and ejecting, but if you're planning on drinking while cheering, and Auburn's having a tough day, someone may try to piss on your cereal. All in all though, it's a good southern football experience, and nowhere near the hell that is Baton Rouge or Knoxville. I don't know what to make of the game yet. Seems even at the moment. I think Spurrier can outcoach Chizik and Malzahn, and after last week's very physical game, I think Auburn is going to be banged up pretty good. However, you can't discount a team that manned up and came back from 17 down to beat a decent opponent. I haven't seen that kind of heart out of an Auburn team since 1993. Anyway, have a good time down there.

We've been there once before, parking is my only concern. Most everyone I've talked to says AU has friendly fans. I had a so so experience last time when we walked through campus w/some students shouting profanities but that was expected of drunk retards. We go to Athens every other year so usually prepared for hostile away games. Thanks for the text security tip, we'll watch out.

Hey man, I'm toying with the idea of heading to Columbia for the Bama game. Any advice on hotels? I did a search and it looked like there was some availability.
