Shared on Fri, 10/15/2010 - 07:39I'm kinda blah about football this week. There are some decent games, but I'm still very anxious about Alabama. Was the South Carolina game (not the fact that Alabama lost, but the fact that Alabama looked so terrible losing) a blip, or was it indicative of a deeper problem with the team. In short, I want to find out if Alabama is a top 5 team, or a 9-3 or 8-4 type team. Honestly, I believe either is possible. Unfortunately, our next three weeks are Ole Miss, Tennessee and a bye before LSU. So, we don't really have a strong test of our mettle before LSU. Sure, we can tell a little bit, but we won't have the big picutre for a while yet.
Here are my admittedly uninspired predictions -
Ole Miss @ Bama - Bama will win. Might be closer than expected if Bama is trying out "live fire" adjustments. In the end, Bama will win by at least 21.
Mississippi State @ Florida - MSU plays UF tough, but I think Florida will find their stride and beat the Bulldogs at home. Maybe I cgive UF too much respect, I don't know.
Arkansas @ Auburn - Auburn's home schedule has been very fortunate this year. I think it will help them against Arkansas, but I don't think they'll luck out in this one. Arky takes the W.
Vandy @ Georgia - Oh, how I would love to see Vandy win. While I think they can beat Tennessee, Georgia will beat them soundly.
South Carolina @ Kentucky - Sure, South Carolina could be heading into the Kentucky game a bit flat after the biggest win in their football program. I'm not really feeling the upset here, and think Carolina pulls it off, but they won't have the inspired effort of last week.
Texas @ Nebraska - I am feeling the upset on this one. Maybe I give Texas too much credit. Taylor Martinez is an absolute beast at Nebraska and they should win, but I can't get that feeling out of my head that Texas just hasn't given up on their season.
Iowa @ Michigan - I'll admit it, I give Iowa no respect. Sure, I liked Hayden Fry, but he's gone. I also give Michigan no respect, and rely on them but once a year to punish Notre Dame for the 1966 tie against Michigan State, and for Notre Dame being too pussy to play Alabama. Michigan seems much more one-dimensional than Iowa, but Denard Robinson is a very tough dimension to overcome. Sadly, I think Rich-Rod is out of his league in the Big House, and coaching will lose the game for the Wolverines.
Ohio State @ Wisconsin - Oh, I'd like the upset here. Ohio State is another one dimensional team, and if you can neutralize Terrell Pryor, you can beat them. I don't know if Wisconsin can neutralize him, but I'd like to see them try. I'll pick OSU, but look out for the upset.
That's about it for the games I'm interested in this weekend.
Oh yeah, cats are still being aggressive with each other. I bought some calming stuff to put in their water. Let's see how it does.
