Well, talk about mixed feelings (on my part). I'm glad you are rejoining this community but am saddened by your problems. You really shouldn't feel like a failure. To me that kind of job requires unbelievable quantities of compassion, stoicism, and emotional strength that few people have. One at time would have been hard enough, but 3 and no support from a co-worker made it an impossible task. I hope that the experience has not hurt you too badly and that you bounce back quickly from an emotionally draining experience. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

You said it, some people are cut out for it, some aren't. I'm less cut out for it than you are, I get really irritated with repetition really quickly, so there you go! You would've beat me out if it were some competition. Just like I'm sure you'd whoop my tail in Gears. Or especially Catan. Glad to have you back in activity! :-) Take care, don't stress too much!

Why are you beating yourself up over this? You stepped in when you didn't need to, did a job that is difficult for most of the population and yet you did find your boundaries and are going to take care of yourself. Good for you! You can't take care of others if you aren't taking care of yourself and that includes time to yourself, etc. I couldn't handle that job even if it were one young man. Give yourself some credit for trying. Continuing would be a disservice to yourself and the young boys, something would have to give. Take a deep breath and (let it out) and do what you need to do for yourself.

Yea I have been there a few times(mountain). Barleys is a good place to eat. they closed the one overhere. And DUDE get ready for Dead Space. It's a great game that will have you on the edge of your seat.

Don't feel bad at all. Looking after any type of 'troubled' person takes something that a lot of people don't have and most can't hack it more than a few years. Those types of jobs usually have huge turnover. So don't take it as any type of indication of the type of person you are, you're just like the majority. My wife who sounds like is a similar personality to you (has trouble saying no and all that) also did a small stint in an old age home. She didn't last a week just like most people. My sister used to work with troubled teens at a school and she gave it up after a year and is now in the banking industry. So you're not alone, don't worry about it, it's nothing to feel bad about.

Your blog is one of the few I read. I've enjoyed your road trip adventures, the cherry-eating kitty and you pulling yourself through life’s many obstacles. I don’t always comment, and if I go for a few weeks without reading them, I play catch up. Then, I see the post in the ladies clan. You saying that you’re leaving and the reason why, well, let’s just say it didn’t sit right on all levels. It was a bit much dealing with nuts in the “real” world, and then watching people who should know better attacking you. In my life I’m surrounded with family and friends that treat people with love and kindness. I was raised by loving gentlemen (father, grandfather, and uncles) that would never ever treat anyone that way. Especially not women. I was taught to never allow a (jerk) to treat me unkindly. I let my mother and others read it and everyone was in agreement that it was (mean, nasty, rude) uncalled for. My clan (Resist) knows I stay outta things like this. I think they were shocked that I got involved. It’s not my style. The reason was because it was you, I (and many others) don’t want you to leave. I’m very happy to see you’re staying and I hope to be reading your blogs very soon.

I've actually experienced the show-up-at-airport-the-day-after-our-fucking-plane-took-off thing. At first, the airline told us we were SOL, no availabe flight for three days, had to charge us full price, etc. Then we showed the clerk two adorable children. We quickly ended up with a supervisor and boarding passes. Flight was overbooked, so we had to play the adorable kid card again at the gate. Since then, we had kid number 3, and our adorabe kid card was revoked. Welcome back.
