I hate watching football, but you can lure me in with all the edibles.
We rocked it with lots and lots of BBQ. Dips & chips - of course.
I wanted to prepare something unusual for SB party. This is what I attained:
My first attempt making strudel. Apples, brown sugar, mixed dried cherries, cranberries, currants, cinnamon and nutmeg:
Phyllo dough can be tricky to work with - had trouble with the phyllo sheets sticking together.
I made a mess, as you can see. It was all over the floor, countertop and me, but it turned out great. After lots of butter and sugar between each layer. Added the filling.
Rolled and ready to bake, but not before a little extra butter & sugar:
I fretted the whole time it was baking. 55 minutes later this beautiful thing emerged:
I have a newly found affection for phyllo dough.
The strudel was a big hit. It was crispy outside and wonderful gooey - packed with flavor inside.
We played a few of our own games.
"Dead Nation" Lots of fun with a partner. Few tough areas, redoes and bitter moments. Always fun killing zombies. DN is decidedly better than "Zombie Apocalypse".
And, this!
We almost killed ourselves playing this game, but ohhhh the screams and laughter:
Now, if you'll excuse me, SB leftovers! . . .
