They are not there to be your buddy, they are not there to figure out how things are going. It is their job to find crimes and stop them - They are trained to asked questions in ways that get you to share more than you have to. You have legal rights - excercise each and every one of them, or you may be seeing your kid carted off to jail in handuffs ...
