10 Reasons Why I Hate Playing with SERIOUS Gamers

Many reasons:

1. The game is no longer about having fun anymore.

2. They know where all the good weapons are.

3. They spawn kill you. Again, and again.

4. They're not content to just beat you. They must destroy you. (Yeah, this is fun when you're doing it to someone else, but keep in mind that on the other side of every pwnage is a very annoyed person. Just sayin' :)

5. While on your team, they take charge and start bossing everybody around.

6. They insist on callouts. If you fail to adequately perform said callouts, they get pissed at you.

7. While playing, you're not allowed to talk about inane stuff. The only thing that matters is The Win. (Even if you are slaughtering the enemy.)

8. They are arrogant as hell.

9. They don't play other games. Not for fun, anyway.

10. Once they've killed you enough times in a row, they teabag you. Just to rub it in.

A Little Story:

When "Tron: Evolution" first came out, I was loving the multiplayer. Made it up to number 80 or so on the leaderboards, back in the day. It was a good time.

So one night, I'm minding my business playing. And I noticed that nobody was taking advantage of the tanks. So I went over, grabbed one, and started destroying everybody. Yes, I must confess... I was a tank whore.

Was I annoying? For sure. After all, everybody hates the Tank Whore. But it IS part of the game goddamn it, and man is it fun! And anyway, it's not like there's nothing the opponent can do about it. The best cure for a Tank Whore is the Tank Buster. That's where you crank out the bomb disc, and start running circles around the tank with your lightcycle, while beating the hell out of 'em. Works like a charm.

But no one stopped me that time. After getting some ungodly K/D ratio that match (hard to feel too guilty about it, heh heh...), I got a message from one of the enemy, "Prod1gyX" by name. Here's what he said, more or less:

"The tank? Seriously? Are you that bad at fighting with the disk?"

WTF, guy? Alright, now this royally pissed me off. But not wanting to get into an altercation, I just responded:

"Nice playing with you, too."

And that was that.

Only it wasn't. I was – I AM - still pissed. "Who is this idiot who insults me for no reason?" So I searched the name on the internet, just out of curiosity. And whoa. Tons of entries. Turns out "Prod1gy X" is a so-called "Pro" gamer whose real name is Robert Paz. (Kind of like Pez, only not as sweet and delicious.)

Anyway, this Robert Paz guy styles himself as "The Wayne Gretzky of Video Games". No, I did not make that up! He says so right here: http://twitter.com/#!/gaems_prod1gy_x

He runs several websites, starring himself. Even has some Halo: Reach vids for any of my good clannies who want to check 'em out: http://www.justin.tv/prod1gyx (No I have not watched those!)

But probably the best example of Robert Paz, the self-promoting douchebag, can be found here: http://www.wizardworld.com/prod1gyx.html You really have to read what he says about himself to get the full impact. I couldn't actually make it all the way through, myself. A few lines in, my B.S. detector forced me to look away.

Yeah, I know you may be wondering, "Hey Vix, do you always stalk your opponents in this manner?" Absolutely not. The guy just struck a nerve. He just seemed so pointlessly rude to me. I was looking for a reason for that. And boy, did I find one! Turns out, on one of his sites he was hyping up to his "fanbase" (which is probably, like, 3 people, including his mom) the following message:

"Follow me tonight, live streaming on Tron: Evolution!"

Great event, right? One worth watching, for sure. Only the joke was on Paz, cuz old Vix here kicked his ass that night! Right in front of his buddies, too. Messed up his entire wannabe "streaming event". Dude must have been really pissed.

So the moral of the story? Don't take gaming so seriously, people. Life is too short. Oh yeah, and fuck you, Robert Paz! "Prod1gy X", kiss my ass.

Thank you. And good night.

Gotta love the hardcore crowd. They have to let everyone know they are better than them.

#7 is great. When I play online I pretty much expect everything else, but Captain Serious better not get all bent out of shape if channel chatter includes a light vs. dark beer debate. Interesting about Prod1gyX too - he even has his own line of gaming accessories (a mouse, at the very least).

Being hardcore doesn't make a person a dick....being a dick makes a person a dick. wait, is this the guy with 265 gamer score? that's not hard core, that's a whiny little wanna-be

I've always wondered if those hardcore gamers are so bad at life that they're just glad they are suceeding at something.

As for #7, I'm okay with inane chatter in the lobby, but stick to the fucking game when you're playing it. When I play online, it's all about the win.

"Isn't taking serious gamers serious a little too serious?" Haha... Yes, I am a hypocrite. I have never claimed otherwise :)
