Shared on Mon, 08/08/2011 - 09:27So today begins week 5 of working out. I'm happy to say that I haven't missed any workouts and have remained on track, even though I've had a sinus infection for about 10 days now and am running into some allergy issues. But on the bright side you can almost tell that maybe I kinda lift weights. So yay!
I found out about the sinus infection late last week after a visit to the doc. I had been having some trouble breathing for the last week at that point, was somewhat congested and couldn't get any kind of relief. I've been taking amoxicillin and a nasal spray which has been helping, so yay. Its played a bit of havoc with the cardio portion of my workouts especially but I've done what I had to in order to get my 30 minutes in.
There seems to be somewhere around a 4-5 pound discrepancy between my doc's scale and the scale at the gym, with the doc's scale being lighter. For the sake of consistency I've decided to go with the readings on the gym scale and work from there. I weighed myself after my workout today and I'm down 15.5 lbs in the last 4 weeks. Thats a good, steady pace I think. Also worth noting is that since I'm building up muscle my weight loss alone isn't going to be a complete indicator of how the program has been working. I'm going to wait until the 3 month mark and then get my body fat percentage checked again. That should give me a better measurement of how I've been doing overall. When they did all the measurements and readings when I signed up it turned out that I had a lean body mass of 245lbs. So if I had no fat on me whatsoever I'd still weigh close to 250lbs. Yep, big boned. :)
Another benefit to working out at a gym is the scenery. Lots and lots of beautiful women there. You almost don't need cardio to get your heart rate up. I've been formulating a plan lately, not sure if it will work or not but maybe you guys can let me know what you think. I was thinking I could approach some of these women with what I would call a "ground floor" opportunity. I'd point out that I've been consistently working out, they've seen me in there every day, and by this time next year the chances are they'll be lining up for a shot at me. So in this limited time offer they could beat the wait and get in now. Yeah, they'd be miserable and suffering for the next year while I took the weight off but in the end they'd be big winners!
Yeah, I don't think so either.
