Not only are we dealing with the ear infections and proper grooming - he's a West Highland White Terrier that looked like if you stuck a handle up his butt you could have used him as a dust mop - crude I know, but that was my dad's comment and crude is just my dad. An example of how different he looks, he's damned near white now, not yellow-brown or brown, you can actually see his face, and his hair isn't so long anymore, so he's cooler. I've seen the daughter of the former owners on Laura's first day with us, and she said "Is that Charlie?! He looks like a whole different dog!"
But yes, he's going to end up costing us a fortune to get him back in good health. I'm not sure if its his food he doesn't like, the condition of his teeth or a combination of both, but I'm going to have to take him back to the vet to get some blood work done because he's so old - he's eight - and get dental care done because two of his top front teeth are brown - not talking a little bit, but the whole thing, and then the canines are getting there, his gums are in really bad shape, and his side/back teeth aren't so good either. These people need to be chewed out and not allowed to have anymore pets. Pets are pets, yes, but pets are also like kids and part of the family, unless you were flat broke ALL THE TIME, you wouldn't ignore your kids health issues, why would you ignore your pets?
