Captain America: Super Soldier? Halfway through it and enjoying it. Do I build up these big event games into some unattainable expectation of happiness, or do I just prefer games that are in the 6.5-7.5 range as far as quality? If so, am I the equivalent of the weird cinema guy who would rather watch Killer Klowns from Outer Space over Citizen Kane?
It's been puzzling me. I seriously waste cycles of my limited brainpower pondering this question. I know Batman isn't a bad game, it just doesn't wow me. I know Captain America is not a terribly inventive game. linear gameplay, rote storytelling, etc... but I'm having fun with it. Is it a function of game length? That doesn't make sense as Mass Effect and Dragon Age pulled me in easily. Is it a subconscious juvenile "I can't like mainstream things" mentality? Again, it doesn't make sense, as I go all fanboy for some mainstream games.
I still have Bioshock 2 in the shrinkwrap (despite having already downloaded Minverva's Den). How many times have I passed this over to play Knight's Contract, Venetica, Gothic: Arcania 4 or any others in that class of game?
I think I'm spending too much time analyzing this, but it does irk me some. I find myself shrugging and politely nodding when a coworker mentions how Gears 3 brings the story together, as I've never finished one Gears game to date. However, if they ask me about Jurassic: The Hunted, I can tell them all about it, even though it's not a very good game.
Weird.
