By the way

That tear in my quad seems to have healed fully.  For awhile I was experiencing a burning feeling in the middle of the quad area when I was overdoing it on the treadmill (it seems the increase in incline is what caused the tear) so I would back it down and feel better.  Sadly, the bruising did not migrate down my leg and instead has disappated where it pooled.  I have to admit to being disappointed.  But I'm still thinking the injury was caused by a weakening of the quad from going too heavy with the new leg presses that covered the inner part of the quad and then increasing the incline on the treadmill during the same period.  Live and learn.

The gout flare up is still going on, although its gotten a little better.  It also manifested itself in my right foot although not anywhere near as badly as in my left.  If you were brave enough to look at the picture I had in yesterday's blog and saw the giant lump o'uric acid crystals under my toes, I'm sure you understand where the pain is coming from.  My toes actually go numb when I get gout in this area, plus I can't bend them downwards. I can bend the big toe down but not any of the others.  So because it still hurt today there was no cardio.  It didn't affect me as much when I was lifting today because I was doing back/biceps which are pull movements as opposed to yesterday's push-centric workout.  That means I didn't need to use my feet for bracing today, and really the only issue I had was when I did standing straight bar curls and had to put full pressure on my foot.  I got through it though, but if the no cardio thing keeps up I'm going to lose my mind.  I get weird like that, obsessive even, and feel like I'm putting on 10lbs a day when I don't do cardio.  I'm hoping tomorrow it will be well enough to hit the treadmill.  I'm definitely doing cardio on Saturday and may even get some in on Sunday instead of taking the day off fully.  I need to think that one over because even though I feel compelled to make up the cardio I have come to realize that I need my rest from this type of activity too.

Also, I'm still battling with Kitty over sleeping arrangements.  She's decided now that since I want to sleep in the recliner she does too, so now I'm in a nightly routine of coaxing her off the recliner so I can go to bed.  She doesn't even care about the blanket anymore.

Anyway, I'm breaking down and getting MW3.  I'll be bad at it I'm sure, but I have always enjoyed the IW verisons of the CoD games.  Even though it doesn't seem IW is the same dev house it used to be I'm hoping the trend continues of compelling single player.  And of course just 3 days left til Skyrim.  I've started reading up on it a bit now after avoiding most details and I'm actually starting to think that I won't be able to tear myself away for Saints Row 3.

A lot of people swear by Apple Cider vinegar as a general restorative and cure-all. I don' believe in cure-alls but it would make sense that if gout is from uric acid crystlization theorically the acv should help counteract that. I think a typical dosage is like one teaspoon per 8 oz of water a couple times a day but don't quote me on that.

Nah, it doesn't work. Neither does cherry juice. At least those don't work for me. Before I started taking allopurinol a few years ago I'd try just about everything to get rid of it.
