Toby got to leave to shelter and go on a field trip with my little family (me, my wife, and, of course, LaLa)! We took Toby to a nearby park. He was great in the car and he loved walking around and seeing new things. He needs some work walking on leash, but he was perfect in every other way. He was good with kids, other dogs (large and small), and he just has a very friendly personality. To be honest, my wife and I both fell in love with him. We both wish we could add another dog to our household, but it would upset the current balance... our three cats are still pretty mad at us for bringing LaLa home 10 months ago.
Toby was a ham for the camera. He learned the "sit" command while we were at the park too! He's currently working on "touch" and "down."
He really wanted to confirm that we were sure he was a good natured goofball and showed us a ton of affection, while soliciting photo ops. Yeeeeesssssshhhhh! All of this silliness and love from a dog that was tied to a pole in an alleyway and left to die alone... starving.
To complete Toby's fieldtrip, we took him to a pet store. He was wonderful there. He was very well mannered and he had the chance to meet more people and dogs. Bringing him back to the shelter was the hardest part. We're hopeful that he'll find a home for the holidays. Toby's going to be a great companion. I'm confident that he'll find a loving family really soon.
