In this and future entries I'll be focusing on gametype strategies, specific loadouts for certain maps, gun attachments and proficiencies for various weapons and killstreak loadouts to fit your play style.
In this entry, we'll focus on Domination, which seems to be the most played gametype for people who are members of this site.
In domination, the object is to win by holding and taking domination points more than your opponents to a score of 200. The easiest way to acheive this goal is to capture and hold 2 dom points throughout the map. There is no need to hold three unless your team is in danger of losing the game outright. The math is easy to compute. If you hold 2 points consistently and you opponents hold one, eventually when the score reaches 140-70, your team only needs to hold one point to win after that score, which makes securing the map even easier.
The best way to control these points is to effectively spawn trap your opponents and force them to come to you. If they always spawn in the same area, you will always know which direction they will have to take to advance on certain dom points, and you can distribute your forces to counter them accordingly. This also means you will now have to worry only about 2 or 3 directions of attack, and not have to worry about watching your back. This means under no circumstances are you to "flip" the enemy spawn by taking that final dom point. Once you do that, controlling the map and regaining control becomes difficult, especially on larger maps, because you will never know exactly where the enemy is spawning.
If you are a more stationary player, it would be to your benefit to stay on one side of the map or another so you can eliminate one more direction of attack thus helping you focus on only 2 fronts, your front or you left/right depending on the side of the map you are on. It is helpful to allow the better players on your team to hold the middle areas so no bulge in your line occurs. Once the enemy infiltrates the middle of the map too far, it becomes difficult to anticipate which direction or dom point they might turn toward in force. It is also helpful if you stack your teammates at least 20 to 25 feet away from each other on either side of the map. This is so if the player on point dies, the other back up player can immediately assume that forward position and the player on respawn will have less distance to travel to occupy your former spot. This rotation is helpful for maintaining control of one or the other side of the map. The middle is a different story. Both players playing the middle should be about even to hold the line, and if they die, should rush to their former spots. Those people on the wings who are in back-up positions must now move a bit more to the center to anticipate any attack coming from the middle to the left or right sides. As soon as the better players respawn and resume their normal places in the middle of the map, then those back-up players can return to their original spots.
This type of strategy requires some coordination, and it is helpful if every player is on the same page.
If they are, there is no reason you should not win 60-70% of your games.
