My dear friends and companions, I am saddened to hear of the passing of our Halo buddy in arms “I Am LM2”. In real life his name is Larry McGowan.

Firstly, if they are able to read this, I want to extend my condolences to his family. I know, from the years of comments and background chatter over the Ethernet, Larry loved and was loved by his family. They sure sounded like great people to know. I feel they must be hurting badly right now. I wish for them the continuity of good memories of Larry to console them throughout their lives.

My first Over Age 50 Halo game with LM2 was 25 July 2006. He wasn’t quite old enough but close enough that we were happy for him to fill out our meager ranks. I’ve played with him hundreds of times and for hundreds of hours since then. Every Halo game with him was filled with fun and good back slapping comraderie. His voice was easy to pick out from the crowd and it was always full of good spirit, bombastic excitement and friendliness. Many was the time in a game, I’d be hunting for LM2 and I’d tell my team, “LM2 is hiding near me”. All too often proximity chat would chirp with “No I’m not!” We’d laugh hilariously and game on. I tear up thinking about those moments in time and wish to go back just to experience them again. Such riotously fun times. I even futilely searched my Xbox today for a game film just to watch him play as if to bring him back, if only for a few moments.

I ache to hear his voice again.

As we Halo fans know, Spartans never die, they’re just missing in action. Maybe someday I will get to hear him again.

I am having trouble assimilating this. LM2 was an enthusiastic and fun player who always livened up our games. Although I haven't played much recently and thus hadn't been in any games with him in the recent past, I often think of him along with the rest of the gang. He will be missed by many of us and me in particular.

My sincerest condolences to his family.

Met LM2 at a Chicago LAN and played with him a fair amount.. ALWAYS a great guy to hang around.  My heart goes out to his family & friends.  I remember when he would bring his son in the room to mop us up...LM had to pass on some talent in his DNA.  He will be missed.

Was very sad to hear this.  LM2 was one of the first to welcome me to 202P and the over 50 group.  Whenever he was in a party there was a lot of laughter and good times to be had.  He will be deeply missed.

Every time this community loses someone, it saddens me. I only had the opportunity to play with LM2 a few times but I am glad to have had even that. My thoughts and prayers go out to all others whose lives were touched by his presence. He will be missed.

I had the pleasure of meeting Larry at the Chicago LAN a few years ago and again in his home state of Minnessota. Larry was one of the first 2o2p members to welcome me with open arms. Through Larry, I've also become close to his only child Justin, aka JAM90. When my wife and I were visiting MN, his family and I went to dinner then went back to their home and did some Halo 3 on LAN. Just great a family.

I feel blessed that I could share that time with Larry and his family and will cherish those memories. I spoke to his son the day before Larry's passing. It was surreal to hear the terrible news from Justin. I will forever remember Larry's squeaky chuckle and jolly good nature. Our community has lost a great one. Goodbye my friend....

There really are no words for this.  Having met him at the LAN and hearing him express how much 2o2p meant to him wrecks me.  He did so much for this community simply by being himself and exemplifying what I believe this community is all about.  He was a rare breed and losing him will create a void that cannot be filled.

I saw Deep message last night to the over 50 group and was sadden by the news. He was (as Deep stated) a fun one to play halo with. I always like his call sign "I am LM2",  he once said that his initials we LMM, so he signed on as LM2, which I thought was unique and said something about his way of thinking.

I too, extend my sympathies to the family.  He will be missed
