Xbox 360 Updates the Dash

After many months of waiting, the Xbox 360 finally gets an update that we can be proud of.

Next week Microsoft plans on deploying a huge update for the Xbox 360 console. They will be update dozens of section of the current interface to create and every better LIVE experience.

Although they have not said when, some time next week, MS will update 3 major parts of the current Xbox Live system. This includes Market Place, Media, and General Usability. Finally the feed back of the users seems to be getting through to MS and the Xbox 360 team. Of coarse this update will take place when you connect to live and should be small enough to only take seconds to download.

Market Place

For the Market Place users will now find new categories for downloads. Instead of the large one section download area, users will be able to break downloads up into categories like media and entertainment, demos and game video, and themes and game pics.

Background Downloads

Yes I said it. Probably the most request download of all is finally here for downloads. User will be able to start downloads, that will continue in the background while you able to navigate the menus. After the update you will be able to queue up to 6 downloads of any kind. Even better, you can play any Xbox 360 while you wait for the downloads to finish. That’s a lot better then sitting in the dash board don’t you think?

Movies

I know what you thinking and no you can’t download movies, but at least you can get to the trailer quicker then before. Once then download is complete you can move straight to the trailer and begin watch. They have even added and rewind, fast forward, pause, play and stop function to the download.

Other Stuff

Other updates include easier music integration which is claimed to be seamlessly placed within the dashboard. You will now be able to over ride game music quicker then ever.

The new update also brings more camera support which MS plans to ship this September. MS mentioned UNO, World Series of Poker Viva Pinata, as well as Gears of War, Mass Effect, and Too Human.

Our Favorite Update

Our favorite updates is simple but oh so useful. Microsoft has given users the option to choose whether to boot a game at start up or not. For heavy Media Center users like myself, this is by far the best update to date. Now I can be lazy and leave in my copy of Table Tennis and not have to worry about boot the game and then moving back to dash once it starts. I can choose the boot potions right from my system menu! I love you MS.

Of coarse there are many other updates, but we will just have to wait and see once its released. I’m just glad MS is listening to all our cries and this can only mean more good things in the future!
