The Xbox Media Center, an OS replacement for the original Xbox with media center capabilities, has just been skinned to look and function just like the Xbox 360.
If you don't know what Xbox Media is, you probably don't have a mod chip installed in your Xbox. For some, a mod chip is not just for stealing and cheating at games. It unlocks the Xbox security and allows talented programmers to run unsigned code on the system. Because of this, dedicated programmers have built the Xbox into a full featured open sourced media center which has almost no rivals. Even Microsoft's own Media Center can not compare to all the offerings that XBMC has for the original Xbox. All that was missing, was the slick interface of 360 and it looks like even has been created.
A team calling themselves Team Blackbolt has successfully recreated the Xbox 360 interface for the XBMC on the original Xbox. Users can watch movies, stream music, launch games, play online via "KIA", all with the 360 interface.
In order to install this skin you will first need an Xbox capable of running unsigned code. You will then need to have the latest version of XBMC installed on your Xbox. Since the XBMC is built using the SDK from Microsoft, it is still considered illegal and so finding it may prove to be difficult. We still thought it was pretty cool. Check out their video below.
