The Amazing Spiderman

New trailer was released today.  It looks pretty great.  Not saying it can't be seriously messed up but it can't be worse than that piece of garbage Spider-Man 3

I refuse to see the movie. The final nail in the coffin is seeing Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy. She'd be the PERFECT Mary Jane: she's a red head, she plays a tough girl well, and I can't see her being a helpless victim as Gwen was.

I do like the darker look and feel, but what I can't get over is the reboot. How many times must we see the same story of peter getting bit by a friggin spider. ok, so the baddies change, so he's now earlier in HS, I still think they should just pick a storyline not at the top of the hour and run with something. At this rate, we'll never see some cool characters like black cat and carnage and rhino or electro.

Doc Oc was my fav in the movies, tho.

Ya i'm tired of the reboots as well.  Move the story line forward.  I'll rent this one when it comes out on bluray, not going to see it in the theaters.

I also wish they wouldn't reboot things all the time... at least we are going to see a new villain (the Lizard) this time, rather than the Green Goblin or Doctor Octopus again.

Also, what is up with the CGI for this movie? To me it all seemed so shiny and fake... like the way CGI looked years ago.

Oh and that college humor vid was awesome! Thanks for sharing that!

There was a clause in the Spider-Man contract stating a new movie had to be made every X years, and Sony waited too long, so now it's back with Marvel. Spider-Man 4 was supposed to have the resurrection of Norman Osborne AND John Malkovich as the Vulture. That would have been sweet to see.

I don't know.  After they screwed up Spider-Man 3 so bad, I didn't really trust them to continue the series.

Yes I've heard of the clause but the rights are actually still with Sony...  I'm sure as long as they had started development they were in the clear.  Besides if Marvel studios got back the rights they would have rolled spidey into their cinematic universe with Iron Man, Hulk, Thor and Cap... Which would be awesome!!! If you pause the trailer towards the end you'll see the Sony logo.

Also this seems like a reboot instead of a continuation of the first 3 movies as it is an origin story, again (albeit different).

Well I wouldn't say that... You are right that studios have to use the properties within a timeframe lest they lose the rights and shit I totally forgot about that John Malkovich being considered for the Vulture tidbit.  Just looking out for a fellow comic book movie fan, no disrespect was intended.

4 Minute Super Preview

Well there's a reason why a re-boot happened, because the script for Spiderman 4 was so stupid ( The Black Cat and the Vulture were to be Father & Daughter), as for this new movie, I think somebody finally understood the character, because we have the mechanical webshooters, Spidey's a wisecracking smartass (always has been), and Andrew Garfield is perfect for the role, he looks like Peter Parker, and Emma Stone happens to be a natural blond in real life (NOT A REDHEAD !!!)

I'm not really concerned about the CGI look of the lizard, as long as a darker and grittier story is delivered, I'll be one happy fan. My sister Beth worked on both the sets and props for the first two Spiderman films, and there were mechanical webshooters to be introduced, but Sam Raimi changed the character, listen I think those films are great but they were never truely true to what the character is, hopefully Marc Webb and the writers get it right this time around, only time will tell!!!

I took the boys to see the movie today.  It wasn't bad but I could really do without another Spiderman origin story.  Seriously, we all know he got bit by a spider.  We all know Uncle Ben dies.  I wish they speed that part along, or skipped it completely.

Anyway, it wasn't a bad movie.  Not sure why a reboot was needed as I thought the previous ones were better (minus Spiderman 3).  The kids enjoyed it.  I do think the new actor "looks" more like Peter Parker and I think Spiderman moved much better in this one.  If you're looking at escaping the summer heat and are into superhero movies you will enjoy this one.

My thoughts exactly. I took my almost-5-year-old to see it and I could tell he was getting bored when, 40 minutes in, he asked where Spider Man was. In a perfect world, this could potentially have been an amazing Spider-Man 4.

Well I just came back from watching the movie in IMAX 3D, and was really impressed with the performane by Andrew Garfield, he's a better Spiderman than Tobey Maquire. Yes the Lizard could have looked more menacing, but people seam to forget that the target audience for most superhero films are young kids who end up buying all the merchandise afterwards, but here's a link to what the lizard could have been: http://themovieblog.com/2012/the-amazing-spider-mans-lizard-could-have-b... Also I loved the fact that Spidey was using the mechanical webshooters, and it's explained quite well in the film how a highschool teenager is able to build them, something Sam Raimi didn't want to do and nixed that idea, I know because my sister worked on the original props for the first 2 films, but Raimi decided to go with the whole organic webbing ability. Some people are complaining about the new suit, I've gotten use to it, and the way that it's construction is explained makes sense as to how a highschooler could make a wicked superhero outfit, listen I loved the suit used in the Maquire movies, but honestly those suits costs $35,000 a piece, and yet we were to believe this kid could make something so snazzy, one was stolen from the first film, but the dumb ass couldn't sell it for profit and got caught. I loved the performances from Martin Sheen and Sally Field, they gave Uncle Ben & Aunt May more dimension, and Emma Stone is perfect casting as Qwen Stacy, could the movie been better, sure it could have, but if I were to rate it, I would give it a solid 8.5 out of 10, stick around after the credits for a bonus scene that hints on what's to come in the next picture, and I understand this new re-boot will be a trilogy just like Christopher Nolan's Batman series, and speaking of which I can let one little secret out about the film, yes there will be a Batcave, but it'll be something like you've seen before, "How to you disguise it if someone were to break in???" I know how, but it'll ruin the surprise, my sister Beth and all the incredible people that build these sets, etc, have outdone themselves again!!! But back to Spiderman, I hope with the direction they hhave taken with the characters, we will get better versions of at least the Green Goblin, and seeing the made Parker's parents scientists, the possibility of bringing back Venom but doing withing the Ultimate Spiderman universe would be interesting, obviously Director Marc Webb follows the comics and the last cartton series the Spectacular Spiderman for ideas, so if your looking for a fun action flick this won't disappoint.

It happens with a lot of franchises. Same thing happened with Spawn. People read the comics originally....then they made the movie....HAD to do the origins....then the HBO animated series....HAD to do the origins. Sorry I don't wanna waste 45 minutes of a movie or a full episode hearing the guy scream WANDA! the whole time.

Same thing here with Spiderman. Kids know how Spiderman got to be Spiderman......so LET HIM BE SPIDERMAN. Not every audience attendee is a completely ignorant douche just going to see "whats new & hawt".
