May Rivals - Truckin Drag
May Rivals - Truckin Drag
Hey guys.. this isn't a bounty event (yet) but for the credit mining, I have a tune posted on my SF (1K) and in the D2NR garage to give a whirl. My current best in it ran 15.015 (#75 or so at time of this post - just .06X from #1).
It is a R3720 build, not the R3719 build. I purposely changed the PI by upping the rim size to add a few pounds to make it stand out. It makesno difference in my testing runs at all and is the same thing as the 719s.
Anyway..........
I can gift it to anyone that wants and you can share with your respecitve garages.
IMPORTANT!!!! Must use manual transmission with NO CLUTCH!!!!!!! - clutch is slower with this car's tranny.
There are two ways to launch it:
1) Hold RPMs at 5000 and floor it on GO. Don't let the red line bounce and try to shift a tad early so it won't bounce on the limiter during up-shifting. It's only 4 gears so just go for it. I am playing with the 4800 - 5200 range as a launch RPM and hope to dial in a perfect start..........
2) (a tad trickier since the catch RPM is hard to see on the track for me)
Hold RPMs at red line (don't bounce) and let it drop down to around 4000 RPM for the catch (if you use digital speedo, somewhere close to the 0 in the speed). Don't let the red line bounce and try to shift a tad early so it won't bounce on the limiter during up-shifting. It's only 4 gears so just go for it.
I used #1 for my time officially but #2 yielded a similar time.
I will work on tweaking this or improving the launch and re-post when I do. I think the launch is the real key to it. AWD and auto-clutch is a bit different than I am used to so maybe the times are made there.
If you get a slow start, no stall but you will run somewhere around 15.1 - 15.3.
If you start too early, you will spin and I don't know what time that will fall under.
When you get it right, the wheels will burn for around 1/8 - 1/4 of a second as you move launch. It's not bad but needed on the proper launch.
Anyway.... that's all I have.
enjoy!
Sounds good Psyber. I'll get it from your SF tonight and hopefully mine a bunch of credits with it.
FWIW, I tried using launch method 1 for probably a dozen runs or so, but found it too hard to get the RPM's right in the short period that you get without the clutch. The best I got was a 15.16 with that method.
Switched to method 2 and found that way to be much easier for me personally to launch. Sitting at 15.06 (188th place) after 4 runs with that method
A+ Tune
Glad one method worked for you.
I havea hard time 'seeing' the actual catch RPM when using method #2. Its the white on white problem for me (white line on track behind the digital tachometer). It does seem to be easier if you know where to catch it each time.
#1 is trickier but for me the only reproducable approach.
I'm still going to try to find a perfect launch on it but it should be able to get into the high 14.9s (probably .99x).
Great tune Psyber. I'm currently at 15.1ish, which is great for my limited skills. Thanks!
Thanks Psyber, I have not really done much drag events, but you have helped me get 15.216, dont think I have hit a perfect start yet, more luck than judgement, thanks for making it possible for me to be a least competitive
To maximize your Fredits Mining Expedition, post an average time for now. Practice getting the launch correctly, but be leisurely once past 2nd gear. You want to wait for enough people to post a time so that there will be many small incremental improvements in your run will result in high rewards ($100K to $150K). That usually happens by the middle of the month or when it becomes the Bounty Hunter event.
Psyber, can you gift me that tune? I'd liek to look at it and see what you did. I have an R3750(ish) tune that I did, and it feels like it can be really fast, but I've bee having a terrible time of launching it. Hitting about 174 at the stripe, so it's got some go...
