Some Turd I Wrote

I wrote to be the background of my character in D&D. Yes, I am a nerd. My girlfriend was curious, so she read it, then encouraged me to share it with others. I don't think it's anything special, so feel free to tell me how much it sucks. Keep in mind, however, this is a short biography of the character, and as such, there isn't a plot or anything. Alton Dunwich began his life in the city of Pelorious. Being of a poor family, he learned the art of pickpocketing at a young age. When he was 15, he was caught by a guard and sent to a labor camp for six months. There he met with other thieves and they taught him many tricks. He maintained a lasting friendship with a half elf named Oranna Blunth, who introduced him to a black market spanning several cities. When he was released from his internment, he went home and learned his home had burned down, with no idea of his family's whereabouts. Oranna's sentence ended a month after Alton's, and they searched for his family together. Eventually they found his family, but learned his older brother died in the fire, along with his father. Only his mother and sister remained. Alton spent two years living with his remaining family, supporting them via both legal and illegal means, until eventually his mother and sister had enough money to move north to the Rickfeld Plains to start a farm. Alton remained in Pelorius with Oranna and the small circle of friends he gained through the black market. He made a name for himself as a locksmith and local handyman, but he acquired a comfortable living through simple jobs in the market as a thief and problem solver. Oranna eventually left town to go back to her family in the Blue Woods, called out for a family sickness. He accompanied her, but he missed the city life, so he returned after four weeks. He would exchange letters with her regularly. When King Tarsis ascended to the throne, the mood around Pelorius changed dramatically. He brought swift justice to felons and petty criminals alike, and after a high ranking assassin that conducted regular business with the black market was caught and executed, the market withdrew almost completely from Pelorius. Alton informed Oranna of the situation and moved to the town of Kusnacht, located only miles from the Blue Woods. He would write just as often as before, but now he and Oranna would have the opportunities to see each other much more often. During a walk to visit the Blue Woods, Alton happened upon a wandering druid by the name of Willum. Alton was intrigued by the nomad, who traded a few rare mushrooms with him in exchange for some food Alton received regularly from his remaining family. Willum taught Alton where and how to harvest the mushrooms, which were poisonous when cooked a specific way. Alton became fascinated by the workings of the poison, and other similar compounds. He bought a number of snakes, spiders, and other venomous creatures and prepared various poisons with numerous effects. He crafted antivenoms for many of his own toxins, and for other naturally occurring ones. The antivenoms and other medicines sold well in the medical circles, and his poisons earned him much money in the black market. Now, at the age of 24, Alton is a respected purveyor of medical aides as well as an underground dealer in his poisons. He has a front man in the market who does the dealings for him, whom he pays quote well, so as to avoid any notoriety with his unlawful trades. Oranna is doing well, but still living in the Blue Woods and his mother and sister are enjoying their farm in the north.

So any hanky panky between Oranna and Alton?

I'm leaving that open, but I doubt it, as I forgot to mention my character is a 3'2" halfling. Knowing the person running the game, its likely she'll use Oranna in a plot and kill her, which would make for interesting character development.

That was pretty good actually. I'm sure a lot of people like to do this for their WoW characters on role playing realms.

Thank you. I'd probably do that myself, I like adding a background. This is making me want to start writing again, I used to write short stories but stopped.
