A PS3 adapter for PS2 memory cards

Sony is producing a PS3 adaptor to upload your PS2 saved files to the 'virtual memory stick' in the PS3 for true backwards compatibility.

Not only is Sony supporting full backwards compatibility with its old last-generation PlayStation 2, but they are allowing gamers to upload their memory card data from the PS2 to their new PS3.

Their website states:
"To use saved data on a PlayStation 2 memory card, you must copy the data onto a virtual memory card within the hard disk. This requires a PS2/PSone memory card adaptor to copy the data to your PLAYSTATION 3. A memory card adaptor is designed to edit, up/download game saves to and from EMS flash card or smart media card."
So everyone will be able to re-play their older games without putting them down in frustration because they would have to start at the beginning again.

Question remains, what will these adapters cost? Taking into consideration that this adapter will only be needed once, to upload your old game saves, and then you'll be off on your PS3 merriment and never looking back at your dusty last-generation console.

Whatever the cost, I'd expect to see plenty on Ebay once the PS3 has shipped. What else do you do with your adapter card that you only need to migrate your data once?
