WvWvW help

Anyone have any tips for a Warrior and WvW?  I feel like I'm playing it wrong.  I have a Rifle/GS combo.  The rifle has terrible range.  And when I go to melee, I just get nuked so fast.

I'm not sure what the role of the Warrior is when you have 2 large groups going at it.

Also, why do the 2 losing servers always fight each other instead of fighting the winning team?  That makes no sense.  Blackgate was 2 to 1 on both Yaks and Us, but our dumb ass team focused on Yaks.

This is a helpful thread: http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/10gcrl/wvw_the_siege_compend...

Though it does not pertain to warriors in particular.

Currently Playing:

Longbow, that's all I've found that lets me contribute to killing the other zerg and assaulting keeps.  10 points in the Vitality line and you can boost the range of the Longbow to 1200.  I was running Longbow and Axe/Axe in EB tonight and got quite a few kills.  I didnt like the Longbow at first but it's really starting to grow on me and now I run with it in  PvE as well.  The combo field effects when paired with Axe/Axe are really fun.  Get a group of mobs/players together, drop a Combustive Shot on them, followed immeditatley with an Arcing Shot for an AoE Might buff, then swap to Axes and hit Whirling Axes to spray fire in all directions then hit Eviserate to gain a Fire Shield.  I'm also currently using a signet build, mainly for PvE, but my crit is crazy high, like 80% unbuffed.

You could probably use Longbow and Rifle for WvW.  The bow  for keeps and AoEing large groups then swap to Rifle to destroy single targets.  To survive in melee you'd really need to have good gear as well as use a Toughness/Vitality build.

Another option I suppose wold be to play as a support Warrior.  Dropping banners, rezzing teammates, using Warhorn to get people in and out quicker... but not sure that's really gonna be any fun to do with a bunch of randoms.

And yeah, it was the same shit when I played tonight also.  We just kept going back and forth with Yak's.  Anytime we tried to assualt Blackgate they quickly had reinforcements show up and crush us so we'd go back to harrassing Yak's again.  Makes no sense why we wouldn't organize with Yak's and go after Blackgate together, or at least leave each other alone and focus on the server that has a huge lead over us...  And when did Blackgate get good?  They must have had a ton of transfers recently because we were very evenly matched with them last week.

I run a sort of support class for sPvP.  I'm set up this class.  It's a rifle / sword and war horn.  But I think I coudl do many things in sPvP.  5v5 is a lot different than zergs.  I'm also on the fence on putting any points in Defense and just become a glass cannon.  I'm just being melted anyway.
