It's a miracle!!

Attn Moderators, if this is in the wrong forum I apologize and please move it. I looked for the console specific threads but I apparently no can has.

Okay, some of you may not recall this (we are getting older ) but, remember when they did that HUGE Xbox update that changed the dashboard to include the Bing search blade and the other additional content? Well, when that update kicked in the disc drive on my year old at the time 360 slim stopped working. A LOT of people's disc drives stopped working. Not the hard drive but the disc drive. It was a huge stink on the Xbox sites tech forums. The thread grew into a huge hate rant with page after page of complaints. After the first page responses from the tech stooges at Microsoft of "We'll look into it". There were no further responses except to deny that the latest update had anything to do with the stoppages.

Now, I haven't checked back to that thread yet to see if there have been any changes in the past couple of months. But, I waited for about three months to see if they'd sneak a patch in to fix the issue before running out to buy Xbox number 6.

Well, yesterday I decided to hook it up in the living room since the family White box was about to crap out. What the hell, the wife and kids only use digital content anyway. The disc drive didn't work at first  (just like it did the day I packed it into limbo) then I hooked it up to our network. There were two updates and a restart. Now the disc drive works fine.

While I understand somewhat that they wouldn't want to shout from the rooftops, "HEY, OUR UPDATE SCREWED UP 20% OF OUR CUSTOMERS CONSOLES"!! But, a little heads up would have been nice. It may have saved me a couple hundred bucks.
