The long awaited Nintendo Wii launch date was leaked by the Seattle PI website, and now confirmed by Nintendo...
...which states that the console will be available on November 19th, in time for Thanksgiving shopping madness. More surprising than the US release date was that it will cost $250 when speculation had assumed a lower price point, and a December 2nd launch date in Japan.
The Wii will come packaged with Wii Sports which takes advantage of the “Wii-mote”. Between 20-25 other games should be available for the holidays as well. Built into the console is a
web browser, news and photo channels, and the “Virtual Console”. In addition the games available from retail, about 30 classic games will be available for purchase from the Virtual Console priced between $5 and $10. Some of those titles will be from Nintendo’s Mario, Zelda, and Donkey Kong franchises.
