I use my Xbox for everything on my main tv, I don't have cable. Im getting ready to upgrade my laptop to windows 8. I have a wp7 with mango on it. I like my phone except I use it for a social tool and not for work at all.
Here is my question.
I'm getting ready to upgrade my phone and I want to get a tablet as well. Should I get a WP8 with a windows 8 tablet, or should I get a droid phone and tablet. The tablet I get will only have wi-fi. I've never used anything droid. Everyone I talk to loves droid though. what are tHe pros and cons of each, in laymen's terms. (look at my sig)
Thanks in advance for the advise. Especially Tank.
Not true.

If you stick with a single vendors ecosystem, you can get some good benifits that you won't get if you mix'n'match. That being said, the smartglass stuff will work on iphone and android, there is also mirosoft issued xbox live apps for those phones as well. Youcan do some limited control of your xbox with smart glass right now and there is some limited game integration as devs start to tinker with it. I"m believe this is available no matter what vendors hardware you're running smart glass on though so smart glass isn't really a reason to or not to buy a wp8.
But if you do get a WP8 and Surface RT, you'll get sligthly better xbox live integration and be able to earn achievements. One thing you can't do however is buy an xbox live title on the xbox and be able to play that same title on your phone and tablet, microsoft deemed to side with greed rather than consumer convenience on that. Hoepfully moving forward with the next xbox, there will be opportunities for buy once, play multiple with everything being on a new fresh underlying code base.
Also there's the zune music service that microsoft is launching that will tie into all four platforms (xbox, tablet, phone, and win8) . I'm not personlly into music that much but lots of people are.
Movies/TV shows you buy on xbox live at one point were able to port over to you computer and your wp7 phone. I'm assuming that functionality still exists and would be expanded to include Surface but you'll need to dig into that a little more of it intersts you.
So if you're a microsoft guy and plugged into their products, I can't really think of a downside not to do WP8 and Surface. I'm going that route myself but i'm waiting for the Surface Pro and plan to replace my laptop and tablet with that one device. Having all new underlying code base across all the four devices I hope will open up more unique capabilities and at least some games that are buy once, play many.
Reasons you might not want to buy into Microsofts ecosystem : There was no software upgrade from wp7 to wp8 forcing you to have to buy new hardware. Where as other vendors allow some limited ability to upgrade your phone with just software updates even though you may not get all the functionality of a new hardware model. Microsoft never gets things right the first time, Windows 8 as a laptop / desktop OS has some usability issues, the SUrface tablet is a brand new gadget for them. About the only product in the mix that's a second attempt is the windows phone 8. I have the WP7 and like it a lot bot the WP8 lookslike it's a lot nicer. But since i haven't had my wp7 for even a year yet, i'm not jumping on 8.
One nice thing on microsoft operating systems though is they are valid for a year or more depending on the product. IOS is the same, they release that annually. but Android seems like they get multiple versions a year, that's oen thing I don't like about andoid personally, it change too fast for my liking.
