Euro Truck Simulator Two

It should not be fun, really it shouldn't. I mean where is the fun in motorway driving? What could possibly be entertaining about running a trucking business?

But. It is. It's so damn absorbing I even tried to actually look behind me while trying to do a tricky reverse of my big rig.

It is the Sim Racing equivalent of fishing, a damn good excuse to do nothing for a couple of hours. Watching out for speed traps, keeping an eye on your sat nav, watching the world go by out your windows, cursing when you miss your turn and wondering if it is time to go for that bank loan to by your own rig.

I picked it up on sale for €12 and it was worth every penny, even my dear wife had fun driving from Sheffield to Manchester...though the death and mayhem she left behind her did suggest lorry driving may not be a great career choice.

Graphics are up to the task, not stellar but good enough. Triple screen is supported but I would like to see FOV adjustable to get the view just that bit better. A multiplayer mod is being worked on and it is, as all games these days still being worked on with updates.

I'd give it 8/10. If they add FOV adjustment and added DX11 support that would be an easy 9.5

Not sure how the trucking lifestyle is in Europe but in Canada the majority of truckers are rednecks that love hookers and blow.....this wouldn't be simulated into the game by chance ? :)

what about hitting baby deer, grizzlies or 2 ton mooses?

Well, I might just have a relaxing dose of medicine during a trucking session LOL But no hookers that I have found yet. Not much in the way of mooses or grizzlies in this neck of the woods but with thousands of miles of roads all across Europe I'm sure there may be hazards like that somewhere.

Christ. I'm glad I'm not the only one who's played and enjoyed it.

We need to start a self help group or something.

I'm based in Sheffield to, used to live there many years ago. I use the internet radio and it was quite nostalgic to tune into Yorkshire radio. Yesterday I found myself cursing because I missed a turn while on a tight schedule. I had just picked  up a speeding fine and spent €2000 on fuel, traffic was crawling and I suddenly thought, why the fuck am I playing this game? LOL Still went out on another run. Gotta pay off that bank loan so I can buy another truck, hire a driver, make more money, and get out of that grotty little yard. I hope the multiplayer mod works out, that could be a gas.
