Winner gets $200,000!
The Halo 4 Global Championship takes place live from PAX at Benaroya Hall in Seattle and on Xbox LIVE this Sunday at 4PM PDT.
The top eight Halo players in the world will battle it out during a live two-hour broadcast on Sunday, September 1st beginning at 7pm ET / 4pm PT for a chance to win a $200,000 first place prize. The tournament will be hosted by Xbox LIVE's Major Nelson, Blair Herter and Jessica Chobot.
On top of competitive gameplay, the tournament will also feature play-by-play commentary and analysis by Andy "Bravo" Dudynsky and Alex "Goldenboy" Mendez, as well as post-match interviews and highlights. In between rounds, the broadcast will feature several Xbox One exclusives, Rooster Teeth shorts, musical acts and more.

Great broadcast so far! A couple 343 statements about community feedback and competitiveness people will be reading into. Str8 Sick, Legit, Pistola, and Ace advance to the final 4 1v1's.

Holy shit! Sudden death for 200,000 dollars. Totally epic. Why didn't MLG ever do 1v1s, Walshy vs Lunchbox, Bravo vs Ghandi, Mike vs James. Awesome!
Zyos vs Walshy: Halo:CE savants. Later games had not provided as good a 1v1 gametype as the first.
Back whem MLG was just starting up there was a 1v1 and 4v4 and 2v2 championship.
Not a fan of 1v1, but that was a $200,000 concussion rifle.
Excellent production. Not a glitch in sight. Excellent quality. Game play was awesome! Bravo and Goldenboy did a wonderful job. I told my wife ACE was going to take the event after his first 1v1. He was taking the chances required to win but also had the skill to back it up.
Agreed - it exceeded expectations. Only gripe is that skyline isn't the greatest 1v1 map and the final 4 was kind of anti-climactic compared to Haven 8's. Overall great job!
I thought it kind of crappy all the FFA winners were MLG pros. kinda sucked that a person could compete with multiple accounts as well.
I didn't get home until later in the evening, so I was surprised to see them doing 1v1s for the 200k. The final matches, while slow on kills, was high on drama. I don't think 343 could have scripted a better final match and then to have it go to sudden death "1 kill for 200k".
If you've played enough Halo, you've probably been in a situation where the game came down to one kill and you find yourself in that 1v1 battle for the game. Could you imagine THIS type of a scenario? You get the kill, you get the 200k - no teammates, just you and a BR. I don't feel too bad for Pistola though, he did walk away with 75k...lol
Overall, the little bit I did get to watch, the event seemed successful. Too bad there aren't more events like this for us to look forward to watching.
