Total Conjecture Thread or: Deep Gets An Aneurysm

Should 343 go to a two-game system to get on the same development cycle?
I can't listen right now but will soon. If it's about multiplayer and campaign being separated, I think I already suggested that, somewhere. Otherwise, stay tuned.
Its about separating off the games into two titles, essentially: one that's space marine-centric, with all the Armor Abilities and equipment and stuff you know and love away from the flagship Spartan-centric games with a longer development cycle whose multiplayer is much more competitive-focused.
You hate me don't you? LOL
Two monkeys would have a more coherent conversation. It was like, like the sixties man and we're doing some dope and getting high man and our thoughts were like, explosions of wisdom but other people's brains just can deal man cause, cause we're so ahead of the the ... like were out there man, in the universe and a fucking god comes and we're like wow!
Man, gimme a break, you summed the whole conversation in one run-on sentence. LOL
So, now that you're all caught up, and at least part of your way to going postal, what do you think about cutting development time in order to stay relevant? What about effectively releasing two titles?
I don't know, we have to get on the same page first. Do you mean separate multiplayer and campaign releases? Forget what they said, too confusing.
Master Chief Halo 4 - 2013
Space Marine Halo 1: Moar Equipment Edition - 2014
Space Marine Halo 2: Holy Crap, That's a Lot Of Wacky Gametypes - 2015
Master Chief Halo 5: Fuck Yes, Finally A Game -2016
Space Marine Halo 3: Now With More MSG - 2017
Space Marine Halo 4: Casuals Almost Like It Now - 2018
Master Chief Halo 6: Press A To Explode In Your Pants - 2019
You know, for example. Stagger it out, get on the same (or similar) development schedule as CoD, and stay relevant. I think you'd also issue DLC and maps and balance improvements in the years between, too.
First. No fucking way do the ultra competitves deserve the Master Chief Edition. He's for the fans of the Halo Universe.
The Space Marine Editions sound like the super competitive stuff and I can understand that getting frequent tweaks, as that community implodes ad infinitum over stuff they thought they agreed on in the previous edition. These tweaks continue until there is nothing remaining on the maps except four walls, floor, ceiling and each with a unique colour to assist with callouts. Each map would have a unique name. When players reminiced about older maps it would be like, "map 1010011 with red, blue, yellow green was the best. Those were the days". Of course the sandbox would now only have one gun whose aim assist, bullet magnetism, scope no-scope, spread, no-spread, bloom, no-bloom, ROF, open sights versus reticle and etc would change to reverse that of previous editions.
But yeah, I agree with some kind of splitting off of the multiplayer competitive and the cream your jeans Master Chief Editions for everybody who cares about the universe.
You've had Master Chief for long enough.
Isn't that sorta what ODST was supposed to be about? A "regular" soldier instead of a Spartan? Who just happened to play exactly like a Spartan would?
I wish they would split off the multiplayer from the campaign. I thought the Halo 4 campaign's story was incomprehensible nonsense. I had no clue WTF was happening the entire game. And this is coming from a guy who enjoyed the stories of all the previous games. I seriously am not interested in sitting through another dose of confusion like Halo 4. Give me multiplayer only, and I'll be happy!
I heard that the story was a little disjointed unless you found all the terminals and what not.
...and the terminal videos had to be watched on Waypoint. Something about time constraints, disc size limitations, or bandwidth (time constraints).
Funny, I understood the story and flow of the campaign. A lot of the connectivity is in the cut scenes which most people skip. How would one split out campaign and MM? Maybe roll out campaign like CEA, campaign only, single and co-op, but that would be probably overpriced. What about multiplayer? How do we really split that? Social and Ranked to appease the casual and competitive players? Who makes the call on how each is configured? No matter how this is approached, someone (read group) will bitch.
Here's something radical -- H5 comes out with full functionality (if it takes longer to release then so be it) with:
-- Campaign (if you don't like it, don't play it).
-- Social MM - Full function, all loadouts with sprint a tactical package option along with other AA. Let the entire community be involved with tuning these.
-- Ranked MM - Competitive loadouts (read no AA) with some AA as pickup (you choose -- I am sure everyone will agree). Let the competitive community be involved with tuning these.
-- Customs with settings garnered from both above.
-- A better Forge using real maps as a template.
-- Theater for all.
Social would have the standard playists for slayer and objective.
Ranked would be limited to FFA, Team Slayer, BTB with some objective possibly in the latter two.
Geez this sounds a lot like H3.
Can't wait for Destiny release.
I never skip cut scenes. I watched all the cut scenes in the campaign. They were incomprehensible. Just basic stuff didn't make any sense to me.
- Aren't all the Forerunners supposed to be dead? What is this Didact guy doing here then?
- How can he even exist, if the Halos previously wiped out all life?
- Where are these crazy covenant from? I thought we were at peace with the covenant?
- Where did all the flood go? Did we just forget about those?
- Where is MasterChief?
- Why are other ships there?
- Why are Master Chief and Del Rio arguing?
- What is the librarian, and why does she want to help master chief?
- Who / what are all the enemies MC keeps fighting?
- Why are these enemies trying to kill Master Chief?
- Why does this Didact guy hate humans do much?
As you can see, just the basics of the game I didn't get AT ALL. I was totally lost.
Did you guys read the books? So far, everyone I know who has told me they had no trouble with the story in H4 has also read the books, and says if you read those, you will understand. I never read those.
And no, I never watched any videos on Waypoint either.
Also, what happened at the end? Was the whole population of Earth killed off or what? And why are we gearing up for battle by making more Spartans if the Didact has already been defeated?I didn't understand what I was seeing.
I haven't played a Halo campaign since 3, but don't they need more Spartans because there are more Halos?
Meh. Bring more multiplayer.
This. Yes, I just agreed with Dixon. Don't judge me!!
Its okay. Everyone except Deep...or maybe James...agrees with me more often than not. Embrace the warmth.
Embrace the baloney!
Wait...What? I think I just caught some Deep shrapnel. CASUALS RULE!
CASUALS 4 LYFE!
Vix, I think you missed a lot that was said. l'm not suggesting it was all easy to pick up, but a lot was in the dialogue in both campaign and SpOps.
I think you are right.
Considering that I just now finished the campaign 10 months after the game came out, that probably didn't help. Playing a chapter a month, it's probably pretty easy to forget a cut scene you watched 8 months ago!
Ive just started Spartan Ops. Haven't gotten into that story yet.
LOL!!
Big fan of the fiction here. Halo 4 is at the bottom of campaign story. Full of all sorts of regurgitated sci-fi and video game tropes. Don't ask me to list examples Deep, not gonna.
I was up to date on all the Travis and Bear novels, all the other games' campaigns have been defeated multiple times, but this one, this one barely merited a completion on normal difficulty.
Seperate them out.
Be smart. Play a different game...
This is true. We could get bogged down into Generic MMO.
to be fair I think Doodi gave up on WoW awhile ago.
Nah, just swap that one out for another. He's a slave to those things worse than most CoD folks are to prestige.
More fuel for Dixon to harp on about. I haven't watched it yet. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dD3QkY8-BAQ
