These analysts, IDC and CNBC are calling Microsoft Xbox 360 the winner of the holiday for most sales.
They're predicting roughly 2 million 360 units sold over the holiday with the Nintendo Wii following up with 1.8 million despite difficulty finding the console. This puts Nintendo as an intense challenger for holiday sales, considering the difficulty finding the unit compared to the abundance of 360's in the isle of every store.
Despite the close call by Nintendo, numbers are what count. If you cannot get enough consoles out in time then you are the loser. That title goes to Sony and the PlayStation 3, which is IDC says pushed 750,000 units into consumers hands (or eBay?)
These figures are only estimates; we hope to get real figures soon enough. Now, we'll have to wait and see which console builds momentum in 2007 now that every system is available. We don't have to rely on hype anymore - it will be results that matter.
