Knights adventures in other leagues.
Knights adventures in other leagues.
Well as we are usually on some kind of hiatus and GBR are in another time zone in order to get in some racing other than testing I race in other places, not an easy thing for Knight, I like to be on track with folk I know, but needs must as the devil drives. So SimRacingRevivals is one, they run an rF2 race once a month to start the process of introducing it to their league. 90% German drivers Team Speak is an interesting affair I can tell you.
I was invited to join in, so have done a couple of races...Damn place is full of fast drivers, but I have managed to not come last and end each race a few places ahead of my start position so that will do for me, next month we move to the Civics at Croft, now I love this car and during testing was on the pace with drivers that normally are much faster, and have managed to win every race we had during testing, so I hope to be more competitive.
I have also been invited to a private league run by an ex Formula One World Champion...That is well cool, and I am running as the #2 driver for the Dead Fish Motorsports team. Season starts at the end of this month and I am as nervous as a virgin at an orgy. But hey the chance to be on track with a real world racing hero was too good to pass up :)
One of the great joys of Sim racing for me has been the chance to meet and race with folk I would meet in no other ways, just over a year in and I have really got my feet under the table of the hobby, Internal tester for my favorite Sim and been able to add my input and got a couple of features into the Sim, tester for Siminstruments and FanaLeds and now racing with a formula one driver...I have spent silly money but have to say, it's been worth every penny for the fun I have got out of it.
Good to hear your keeping busy!
My PC racing due to time and the wife returning to work on Monday is now pretty much non existent :( not even sure I've had the chance to turn on my PC this yr? However I was able to pick up a ps3 over the holidays for $40 and got gt6 for Xmas which has kept me entertained when I come home from work. Church and the guys over at 204F have quit a few good series starting up shortly as well as a btcc series in the coming months that I've been asked to help with if time permits.
its amazing how many friends you meet through this hobby, even more exciting when you get on track with pros...Pcars had a race over the holidays that had nic, Lewis Hamilton, Ben Collins and Ollie loeb....Ben and nic were hella fast! But can teach you a lot if you can keep them in sight and pick up on there tricks :)
iam sure it will be a blast, good luck mate!
Just had two races at Croft in the Civic, fourth in the first and a third in the second, first podium at SRR so Yay for that. Tomorrow it's qualifying for that league I cant talk about too much, but we are racing 1937 Bentlys around the Isle of Man, it has taken endless attempts to just get a clean lap, but today managed two, and got a time, 12 min something. Was very worried until someone else joined the server and was having all kinds of problems, and I suspect one other driver has yet to install the mod, so he has a shock coming. So fingers crossed I should not be qualifying last. Ah another driver just put in a time of over 13 mins, so if I can keep it steady and not panic I could be okay.
Isle of Man????
Yeah Isle of Man, and a short race it was for me, interwebs crapped out, annoying as by race day I had qualified half way up the grid, and was looking good for points...Same deal the following week, resonable quali and dumped off server during warm up. This week it looks like the interwebs have been sorted, in fact my speeds are almost twice what they were before the issues, this weeks race not so good, have had little time to practice, and am laguishing near the bottom, 1979 F1 cars...So our RL F1 driver and his test driver team mate are well in their element, 50 secs ahead of me LOL
Well my first race at DAoR is finally in the can, with low expectations starting at the back at the 1972 LVIII Grand Prix de France track in a 1976 GP car...One of those one mistake and you falling down a mountain tracks. My plan was to just stay on track, look after the tyres and get to the end and see what places came to me...and come they did, After an intense hour I finished 4th, ahead of me, one former F1 world champion, one F1 test driver, and one pro race driver...I can live with that
Back in the 37's for the next race at the historic Brooklands circuit. So far 1.5 seconds cover the entire field with me about halfway, should be a hell of a race, the car is fragile, unsettles very easily and it is fierce easy to fly off the top of the banking...High hopes for points for me and the team here.
