What's Up With That XB1 Controller

I was in a Forza 5 MP lobby last night and was asked about the condition of my XB1 controller. We compared notes and determined that we both had Day One controllers that were suffering similar maladies like pausing games on their own, in-game spinning, and a general creakiness. The 360 controller was solid, why does the new controller feel and play like a cheap piece of shit? I'm reluctant to play my Day One into the ground so I'm replacing it soon, but I hope the replacement controller is made better.

I thought it was just me. When I got the xbone I told my friends the controller "felt" cheaper. Not at all as solid as the 360. I have read several mentions of issues with it coming apart.

The only issues with my Day One controller is you can feel the seams move.

We have two Day One Systems and both controllers feel cheap compared to the360 ones. You can feel the seems shift on both while playing.

I like the XB1 controller. Better than the 360 version? Meh, don't know yet. I do like the trigger feedback. I do not like that there isn't a battery pack. I always have a 360 pack loaded and ready to go. Now it will be a big battery fumble everytime I need to change during a game.

I already have the Nyko battery pack/charger set up for the XB1.The only issue I have with the new bat pack is the orientation of the battery in the controller necessitates that the battery cover be removed for charging then replaced to prevent the battery from spilling out of the controller during play. It's not terribly annoying, but it's not nearly as convenient as the system for my 360 controllers.

My (not day one controller) feels solid.  I have two controllers, each with a rechargeable battery and a 2 controller docking station.  Keep it out of the way of any pets and it is a good set up.

You guys either have weak hands or amazing controllers.  Mine moans, groans, creaks, and cracks during stressful gaming sessions.

The One controller certainly has improvements over the 360's.  The D-Pad is (finally) great among one of them.  Not among one of them: build quality.

YEM and Achy aren't using Day One controllers...which gives me hope that the replacements will be solid and I can retire the Day One before it shits itself apart.

I have one of the M$ play and charge packs. I hate how we can't see what the battery life is anymore.

Both of my controllers feel fine. They are not day one's.  And that's also with the torture of a 7 year old trying to race and yell at the TV.

My controller works fine so far but on the right size, the seam between the top/bottom seems to be loose or something, it has quite a bit of give right there.  I've read from other people with the same issue but on the left side of the controller.

Overall I'd agree, the ONE controller does seem to be a quality step down than 360.

I seriously doubt there will be any changes to the the production line for quite some time, and whatever changes do happen (if they happen at all) will take a bit of time before we see them at a retailer.

So I'm borrowing my friends PS3 (itching for a Final Fantasy 7 fix, haven't played it since High School) and this Dualshock 3 controller is just as cheap and creaky as the Xbox One controller.  I haven't even seen a Dualshock 4 in person yet, is it the same?  This isn't fanboyism speaking (I love all video games, regardless of system.) but the 360 controller is literally the most durable feeling controller ever.  Maybe not the most technologically advanced but certainly the sturdiest/toughest, especially with the chatpad attached.

DS4 feels more solid to me than the DS3 but I never had a problem with the DS3. I have silicon skins for my DS3 controllers so maybe that cut down on the creaks. There have been complaints of the rubber coating on the sticks of the DS4 peeling off but I just chaulk that up to wear, same thing happened to my 360 controller.

I bought my One on 2/13 and the contoller was immediately a POS.  Flexing at the left seams and it loses it's mind(look camera goes bonkers)  from time to time  i have a Titanfall controller I haven't used yet.  I need to get on that and make sure i don't need to return it.

Titanfall contoller I bought has a very weak menu button.  Noticed it immediately.  Returning, which should be interesting since I don't think they have anymore of them.  Not keeping a $65 controller with weak menu button to see if it's better quality over all.  Looks like I'll be driving my original controller into the ground.  2 out of 2 bad controllers for me so far.

Both of my standard controllers are fine out of the box. I have one that came with the system and another I bought with a charge kit.

Mine feels solid, the issue I have is it loses it connection once an hour or so.   I sit right in front of the xb1 so it's not being blocked. It doesn't turn off, just seems to freeze and the only fix is to hurry and remove a battery so that it turns off, reassembling, and then turning it back on.

Since the controller has a  1 month in store replacement warranty I'm going to use it until then to see if the menu button works itself out or fails.  Gamestop thinks the menu button is dorked too so it's not just me.

Confirming I have two standard issue XB1 controllers and both seem fine and feel identical in every way.
