Co-op splitscreen & H4 Forge Maps
I've read on Waypoint where some believe co-op splitscreen causes lag in H4 forge maps. We've played a few custom H4 games with others while we were splitscreen, and didn't see a problem. Just wondering what the group here thinks. Thx.. MIN
Some forge-built maps, wheather you are in split-screen or not, have serious framerate and lag issues. Sometimes forgers use the full budget, or too much lighting and effects, which causes some re-draw problems. I'm guilty of doing this, and have tried to adjust maps to minimize it. As for split-screen, I have seen problems in matchmaking when the opposite team has players with one or more guests( name with name(1), name(2)) seems to get blackscreen freeze more often.
Split screen uses different draw distances depending on the number of splits. Two way split can be the worst for frame rate issues. It draws almost as much as single player plus draws it twice. Halo 4, four way split has ruthlessly short draw distances. Lots of object popping but smoother frame rate until the action gets too hectic. Zones like KOTH cause problems too. As a general rule, the closer to 10,000 budget used, the worse frame rate can get. It's more complicated than that, in the end.
Our youngest is home most wkends (senior in college) and she loves Halo.
