Fixing an SSD Fast Start setup.
Win8.1 laptop with 32GB SSD and 500GB hard drive.
Wife noticed it was starting up/working quite slow. After checking stuff out I came to the conclusion it was something to do with Intel Rapid Start/Storage tech.
The Dell diagnosticts give the SSD a good bill of health.
I downloaded/installed the latest recommended drivers and now the laptop is working pretty quick again. Just one nagging error message saying "Your ststem does not appear to have Intel Rapid Start Technilogy enabled".
I'm having trouble getting my head around the setup and SSD partitioning. I read stuff and my head goes boing.
Did a little research for you. Sounds like the latest drivers somehow disabled the rapid start technology. The link below may be helpful if you want to pursue a fix:

I've found, from looking at my identical laptop, that the SSD should have two partitions at 8GB and 20GB repectively. Currently, my wife's only has one at 30GB.
I'm not sure if I'll use Acronos to partition it ir MS default tools. Very reluctant to eff up her laptop.
Say what now...
