Can you feel it in the air? Smells like the beginning of Holiday season to me and
from the looks of the games starting to release the publishers think so too!
This coming week is jam packed but I am only going to hit what I think would be
the top 5. Let's get on with it!
Guitar Hero Live
Release Date: October 20th, 2015
Platforms: PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, WiiU
That's right plastic axe wielders! Guitar Hero is back! I had a chance to play this at E3, and the new guitar felt nice in the hands but the new button layout took some getting used to, as well as the lack of color coded "notes" on the screen. Black and white picks is all you get and two rows of three buttons to hit. Being a wannabe real guitar player myself, I will admit it felt closer to fretting an actual chord but still not the same thing. That's ok because what it was fun!
Just Dance 2016
Release Date: October 20th, 2015
Platforms: PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, WiiU
Just Dance isn't a game most of us would admit to playing unless you are the parent of a couple young girls or manage to get some adult friends over, have too much to drink, and think its a good idea to dance in front of your TV. Not that either of those scenarios has ever played out in the House of Soup...not that I will admit freely anyway.
Tales from the Borderlands Ep 5
Release Date: October 20th, 2015 / October 21st, 2015
Platforms: PC, PS3, PS4 (20th) | Xbox 360, Xbox One (21st)
I am a fan of the Borderlands series so at first I was disappointed with this game as it is NOT a typical Borderlands game. What it is however is a typical Telltale Games series. Once I got past the intial differences, I started to really enjoy this new story. If you haven't played it yet wait until its on sale or available free-ish and give it a try.
Sword Coast Legends
Release Date: October 20th, 2015
Platforms: PC, Mac, Linux
So Sarcasmo and I had a chance to see this game at E3 this year and what I saw was 12 year old Chunky's imagination come to life! It was awesome! If you ever played, or still play Dungeons and Dragons, Sword Coast Legends is the most true to that experience. Not surprisingly developed by Wizards of the Coast, you can role your character or be the DM. As the DM you craft your dungeon and can watch over
the players as they enter and explore. You can tweak EVERYTHING as they go through. Too easy? Throw more monsters or a couple traps in their way. Too hard? Throw them a bone with some health vials or remove some monsters or traps. Setup secret rooms or as a player play any other dungeon anyone has created.
Assassin's Creed Syndicate
Release Date: October 23rd, 2015
Platforms: PS4, Xbox One
Lets hope Ubi learned their lesson from the disastrous outing of last year's Unity. I'll be honest, Black Flag ruined the franchise for me. I hated, and I don't use that word lightly, absolutely hated the sailing. I got about halfway through and couldn't bear anymore. Unity looked like a mess so I stayed away. The trailers look decent for Syndicate but I've been burned before. If you get it and like it message me and let me know what you like. I miss the free running and assassinations.
